Yes, it’s finally out just as Himesh Reshammiya wanted it. It’s his mom’s birthday and what better gift can a son give to his mother. Aap Ka Surroor is one of the most awaited movies of this year. This film marks the acting debut of TV serial producer-turned music composer-turned singer-turned actor –Himesh Reshammiya.
I know the whole world is waiting to criticize HR. He is not here to replace SRK, Salman or Aamir. He is just here to prove what he is capable of .
According to me, HR is one of the most self-confident personalities I have ever seen. It’s not easy for a composer to turn into an actor, and it’s also not easy for an actor to turn into a composer. Himesh has done it!!!! The tagline, “Where There Is Faith There Is No Fear,” is the best way to express Himesh`s effort.
Aap Ka Surroor is not a rona-dhona kind of film. The film is beautifully executed and the pace of the film is brilliant. It has a normal story, which is beautifully presented.
There are huge expectations from HR’s fans. For them, it’s the most awaited movie of the year. The interesting thing is that even those who don’t like HR have turned up for this film just to see what he does as an actor.
AAP KAA SURROOR is a simple story. It all begins with HR in jail and there, onwards, begins the flashback for the past 15 days before the incident took place. Himesh remembers the happy moments he got back after long a long time through Riaa. They both fall in love with each other, but the problem comes in the form of Ruby, who also loves HR. But HR rejects Ruby and seeks Riaa’s father’s permission to marry his daughter. Then one night, he and his friend Shravan, both, get drunk. That is the night the murder of news reporter Nadia Merchant takes place. The rest of story tells how Himesh escapes the prison and how he will prove his innocence.
The film is actually a romantic thriller. What works in the favor of the film is its presentation. Prashanth Chaddha who proved his talent with various music videos featuring HR has taken a step ahead with AKS –The Moviee. The execution of most of the scenes is perfect. The auto rickshaw scene is the only exception in that case. It could have been better picturized. It doesn’t look natural at all. The film, on the whole, is just okay, but some moments are really well executed.
Himesh`s music is a huge boost to this movie. The songs Tera Mera Milna, Assalam Vaalekum, Jhoot Nahin Bolna, Mehbooba, Tanhaiyaan, and Tere Bina are all of international standard. The picturization of these songs are excellent. They are a visual treat to watch. I am sure if Himesh is given one more chance, he will improve a lot and come up as a total winner. DOP Manoj Soni has done a fantastic job. Production Designer Roopa Chadha is top class. Dialouges by Vibha Singh are well written.
Aap Ka Surroor belongs to HR mainly. It’s his first film, and HR has tried his level best. The emotional scenes stand out. But please don’t compare him with the Khans, Bachchans and Kumars. He`s natural. He played himself well. It’s a very good performance. One must remember it’s his first film.
Hansika Motwani is just okay. She makes a decent debut. She looks cute throughout the film. Mallika Sherawat is in form after a long time. Her scenes are perfectly executed and her expressions are brilliant. It’s her best performance since Murder. Shravan as Himesh`s friend is top class. Both Sachin Khedekar and Raj Babbar have done full justice to the role given to them.
On the whole, AAP KA SURROOR is a must watch for all those who love quality cinema (technically and presentation), and it’s a must watch for all HR fans. The earth-shattering opening mainly due to the fantastic promotion will make things easier for the distributors. The movie is for the aam junta (masses). We can’t wait for the sequel Himeshji!!!! Watch it if you like or hate Himesh because he has done full justice to his role. Overall:Time Pass.
