The “International Indian Film Academy Awards” (IIFA), also known as the “Bollywood Oscars”, was visited by one iconic star in particular.

Saturday Night Fever…

Grease Lightning!

You guessed it!

John Travolta!
The song and dance, a famous aspect of the Bollywood film is certainly no stranger to Travolta. John Travolta is indeed the man who mesmerised the world in the late 1970’s through his avatars Tony Manero (Saturday Night Fever; 1977) and Daniel “Danny” Zuko (Grease; 1978).

In fact, Travolta told media present at a press conference on the 25th of April 2014, that simply acting is not enough; he emphasised that when acting is combined with song and dance, it becomes the complete deal:
“I’ve always felt that acting with song and dance (is) … a more complete communication,”

Travolta added that Bollywood could teach Hollywood a lesson or two- indeed a refreshing comment as Bollywood has usually been accused of imitating Hollywood. The star stated:”I would love for the Bollywood influence to actually infiltrate and give Hollywood more confidence in musicals and dance.”

Sanjay Leela-Bhansali’s Ram-Leela seems to have struck a chord with Travolta. Not only did he praise the film for its musical capacity but described Deepika Padukone as amazing:”I recently saw the Romeo and Juliet film, Ram-leela. In that the first musical number was wow. I love the actress in Ram-Leela, (Deepika Padukone) she is amazing.”

Song. Dance. Acting.

The combination clearly screams: “Bollywood”!

Having been awarded the Outstanding Achievement in International Cinema at the IIFA by Hrithik Roshan at the Tata Motors IIFA Awards, can we expect to see Travolta work his magic on the Bollywood screen too?

This vision may come true as John Travolta, we hear has been offered to star in Shekar Kapur’s Paani, though he has not given his nod yet!

Travolta’s tantalising dance moves and his intense gaze make him a perfect match for Bollywood.

The icon already boogied away on the Bollywood stage at the Pirate themed opening night of the IIFA amongst a crowd of 20,000. Closing off 4 days of magic in Tampa Bay, USA the spectacular IIFA awards show on the 26th of April 2014, the star was pulled up by Priyanka Chopra.

Once on stage, John Travolta showed the world his signature moves from his 1994 cult hit, Pulp Fiction, grooving with Hrithik Roshan!
