Seems we are going to have quite a long wait to get our first look at Rani Mukerji’s new film Mardaani because the script and everything connected with the film is being kept completely under wraps.

We do know that Rani will be playing a cop in the film directed by Pradeep Sarkar (Parineeta). In production now, the raw and gritty film we hear will be YRF’s boldest subject ever to be made.

We recently learned a bit more about her character: Shivani Shivaji Roy is an astute cop working in a Mumbai Crime Branch unit. Deft at picking up hidden clues and fearless in confronting hardened criminals, Shivani stumbles on a case that will change her life forever. But that is all we are going to find out because the makes want to keep the full plot to themselves for now!

A movie’s spokesperson told the Hindustani Times that everyone involved had to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and even added an extra legal restriction so that the story does not get out. “It’s a closely guarded script. The work on the film has begun, and the makers wish to keep it out of the public eye until the project is set to release.”

We will have to wait and watch to find our more about the exciting Mardaani, but you can be sure as soon as we know you will be in the know!

The film is set to release on 22 August 2014.
