Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Bollywood actor Rekha, both Members of Parliament, vote during the Vice Presidential elections at Parliament in New Delhi, India on August 7, 2012. UPA candidate Hamid Ansari was re-elected as the Vice President, becoming the second person to get a second consecutive term as he defeated NDA nominee Jaswant Singh by a margin of 252 votes.

Rekha looked her beautiful self in her trademark look, donning a golden sari. Check them out.

Katrina Kaif strutting her stuff

Farah Khan, the director of the much awaited Tees Maar Khan, reveals that Bollywood’s doll Katrina Kaif will be seen as a belly dancer in her film. “She is actually going to learn belly dancing. So, you will see her in a new very glamorous avatar,” announces the director. She adds that it will in fact be an item number that will feature Katrina’s exciting new avatar.

It is a known fact that before directing, Farah Khan was a successful choreographer with well known pieces such as Idhar Chala Main Udhar Chala, from Koi Mil Gaya as well as numerous others in films such as Bluffmaster, Don, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Dostana. She will be closely working with Katrina to ensure that this is done to utmost perfection. The director speaks very highly of Katrina, “I’ve had a very good experience working with her. She is very ambitious.”

Let’s hope that Farah’s enthusiasm translates into a fabulous song on screen because Bollywood could really do with a hot new item song right about now!

Let me introduce you to some delicious eyecandy. No, not candy… I’m talking about a steaming Filmfare cover featuring Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor.

The couple has been featured in the magazine’s Fashion Special as their new Sexy Trendsetters. Insiders say that the couple was extremely comfortable doing the photoshoot together and looking so naturally intimate that one couldn’t tell that they have never worked together before. What we found cute was that Sonam could not stop giggling the whole time. Do we sense a new romance building up in B-town? We wish!

If this cover does not set a new standard for untried Bollywood couples, I don’t know what would. It has been reported that the couple has been cast in a Karan Johar production, being directed by Punit Malhotra, nephew of renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra. We know we can’t wait to see that jodi on the silver screen!

The magazine also features many Bollywood fashion enthusiasts such as Kareena Kapoor who is rocking a spring look throughout the shoot, and Prateik Babbar who takes the boy next door image to a whole new level.

Legendary director Tapan Sinha passes away

It is with great regret that we inform you of the death of film director, Tapan Sinha (2 October 1924 — 15 January 2009). Sinha passed away due to bronco-pneumonia, a prolonged illness.

Pratibha Patil, India’s president, expresses her deep condolences to the fans and the family saying that “Shri Tapan Sinha shall always be remembered for his films”. She also goes on to say that the director will especially be remembered for his work on films such as ‘Ek Doctor Ki Maut‘ and ‘Kabuliwala‘.

In correspondence to The Hindu newspaper, his son Anindya Sinha, who is a renowned primatologist says “He will be remembered for his films but what was most important to him was that people saw his films and love his films”.

Sinha, who is a recipient of 19 National Awards will be remembered by the fans and the industry alike.

Aishwarya Rai’s Dirty Little Secret

What is this we hear? Aishwarya Rai Bachchan revealing a secret? For those who have known Aishwarya and have followed her career and (ahem) life, it comes as a surprise when one reads a secret coming out of her mouth. The actress concealed the fact that she was dating Abhishek Bachchan for months before their ‘sudden’ engagement in January 2007. A secret revealed by herself is such a rarity that one has to take a deep breathe to realise what was just said.

All my chitter-chatter aside, it was recently revealed that former Miss World and International superstar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan chose to do the Hollywood film, Pink Panther 2, because of her admiration for Peter Sellers, the British comedian who played Inspector Clouseau in four Pink Panther movies. Aishwarya says “I loved Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther series when I was a kid and watched these films. It was hilarious, a laugh riot and a thorough family entertainer. People across different age groups love The Pink Panther because the films always bring a smile to one’s face.”

She added she said yes because she thought it would be a fun film to work on, “When I was offered this film, I was really excited as for me I was doing something which I have loves seeing as a child. It was a fun film which I would enjoy working in. The film did not require me to do intense acting and I did not have to look forward to scoring points as it had an ensemble cast of terrifically talented actors. I wanted to have a good time with all of them and I said a yes to the project. I’m not expecting critical acclaim or something from this film since the film is not about me, it’s about Steve Martin and The Pink Panther.” The film opens on February 6th.

It wasn’t much dirty but hey, a secret is a secret after all, right? Let’s hope she’s just as open to other questions like: How did she prepare for her World Peace speech at the Miss World pageant?

Noted singer Mahendra Kapoor passes away

It is with deep regret and remorse that we inform our readers that legendary singer Mahendra Kapoor (74), passed away due to a cardiac failure on Saturday, 27th September 2008 at his residence in Mumbai. His son, Rohan, tells IANS that Mr. Kapoor had not been in good health for a while.

Kapoor’s dream was to sing for Bollywood movies and he rose to fame in the late 50s after having won a singing contest. He made a name for himself with his performance in a popular song in the 1959 movie, Dhool Ka Phool directed by Yash Chopra.

We all may not know him by name but most of us have heard the very popular song ‘Mere desh ki dharti sona ugle’ picturised on Manoj Kumar in Upkar. His other remarkable performances include songs in Humraaz, Waqt, Gumrah, Purab Aur Paschim, Kranti and Roti Kapda Aur Makaan.

He was a proud winner of Filmfare awards for his singing of ‘Chalo Ek Baar’ in Gumrah and ‘Neele Gagan Ke’ in Humraaz.

The film industry bid him goodbye at his funeral at Santa Cruz crematorium.

Exclusive interview with the director of “Between the Night and the Moon”

We are very intrigued about Kangana Ranaut’s new venture with Ambassador Pictures, Inc, a United States based film company. Apparently Kangana is in negotiations to be a part of a film they are producing by the name of Between the Night and the Moon. This exciting project is being directed by Italian filmmaker Gilda Pianelli. In an exclusive interview with BollySpice, Gilda talks about Kangana and gives us a teaser about the story of the film.

Has Kangana signed your film?
Miss Ranaut will be coming to the States to discuss this project further. She has expressed interest and we are delighted.

What was it about Kangana that made you approach her?
Miss Ranaut is an incredible artist. Her nuisances, her strength comes across stunning on the screen. Her eyes speak. She is very passionate with her choices. Our film is being created specifically for her.

When did you first hear about her? How did that happen?
We were in development long ago and I took a trip to the Bollywood Awards in New York City to meet her. There we spoke very very briefly. I had been doing research to find the right actor and when I saw her work in her first film Gangster I knew that Kangana was an amazing actor of depth.

What’s the film about?
The film is about love, passion and rage. I would say it is a modern day Romeo and Juliet… it is not an adaptation. It is set in Kashmir and the US. The script is magnificent and is very layered. That is all I can say right now.

So, what’s next?
We wait for Miss Ranaut and after her current obligations proceed on with this beautiful project. We are fiercely in development and looking forward in creating something exceptional and passionate.
