In the Summer of 1959, the 29th of July to be exact, an icon was born. His name is Sanjay Balraj Dutt, or more commonly known as Sanju Baba. Sanjay Dutt, one of Bollywood’s most talented celebrities, has acted in hundreds of films including Hathyar, Saajan, Khalnayak and of course his memorable performances in the Munnabhai films. It is not only for his films that Sanju Baba has made headlines. His personal life has had some controversy including his arrest, even with that he still remains one of the greatest actors ever.

Sanjay Dutt was born to Sunil Dutt and Nargis, two of the finest stars in classic Bollywood. He also has two sisters, Namrata Dutt and Priya Dutt, the latter being a member of the Indian National Congress as a Member Of Parliament for Lok Sabha, Mumbai North West.

Nargis died from pancreatic cancer on May 3, 1981, only a few weeks before Sanjay’s first film, Rocky, was to be released. Stricken and depressed, Sanjay took solace in drugs and became involved with anti-social parties. His father helped him by getting him back on the right track and Sanjay went to a rehab centre in Texas. In 1987, Sanjay Dutt married his first wife, the Late Richa Sharma. Richa was also an actress, who first appeared in Hum Naujawan in 1985. A year after their marriage, a baby girl was born and they named her Trishala. Sadly, just a few months after Trishala’s birth, Richa was diagnosed with brain cancer and the couple split soon after. Richa and Trishala went to stay with her parents while Sanjay went on with his career.

Sanjay Dutt became known in the 80′s as a dream boy turned bad boy. In 1993, Sanjay had a breakthrough role in Khalnayak as Ballu, the notorious criminal. You might still remember him as the one who wore that outrageous batman-like suit and cowboy hat and danced around with a silly grin on his face. Yup, that is him alright.

However, it was in that same year that Sanjay was arrested for connections to the Bombay Bombings and was sentenced to an 18 month jail term. Sanjay was charged with possession of illegal arms, ammunitions and a bomb vest. It was also during this time that news about him and his long time girlfriend, Rhea Pillai, hit the headlines. Rhea was seen standing alongside Sanjay during his jail term and every step of the way. Sanjay was released on bail and was given outstanding support by the people around him, including many of his fans. In 1998, Sanjay proposed to Rhea on Valentine’s Day and they got married the next night.

Again, luck was not on his side and the next few years would be tough in the actors personal life. His love life with Rhea dissipated a few years later, and they began living separately though bonded by marriage. On May 25, 2005, Sunil Dutt died in his sleep from a heart attack. In 2006, the court passed verdict that Sanjay was found guilty under the Arms Act of possessing an illegal weapon, but he was not convicted because the Judge believed he was not a terrorist. He was then arrested again on July 31, 2007 and was sentenced to a six year imprisonment. On August 20, 2007 the Court granted him permission of an Interim bail, and Sanjay was released on August 23rd. Once the interim bail was up, he was back again in jail by October. Then on the 27th November, 2007, Sanjay Dutt was again granted bail by the Supreme Court. In January of 2008, Sanjay and Rhea had their divorce finalized and Sanjay moved on to marry Manyata of February 10th of that year.

After reading all of this, we can’t help but wonder if this is really the life of Sanjay Dutt, the actor whom we all know? It’s really hard to believe it. His smile is like that of a mischievous boy, his comic roles in movies had audiences laughing and his charisma always captures everyone’s attention. His voice, his eyes… even the way he walks is a style that screams “Sanjay Dutt”. From his role in Khalnayak as Ballu to his role in Munnabhai M.B.B.S and Lage Raho Munnabhai as Munnabhai ,or Murli Prasad Sharma, Sanjay has always captured everyone’s heart.

Sanjay won the Best Actor Awards for his role in Vaastav as Raghunath Namdev Shivalkar, a character which every young boy idolizes. He then won Critics Best Actor Award for his role in Mission Kashmir as Inspector Inayat Khan, his first film with Hrithik Roshan. On the comedy front, he won the Best Comedian Award for his role in Munnabhai M.B.B.S. Role after role, Sanjay always surprises us with his talent.

Though we have always seen Sanjay cry in his movies it’s when Sanjay cries in real life that really makes people like me want to cry along with him. I remember watching the episode with Sanjay on Koffee with Karan, and there was the segment where they showed the public talking about him. The image of him, almost in tears, when an elderly lady spoke about him and praised him has always been implanted in my mind.

He will next be seen playing Vikrant Raina in Sanjay Ghandavi’s Kidnap, which opens on October 1st. The film also stars Imran Khan and Minissha Lamba. About casting Sanjay, the director said, “I think it was in 2002 or 2003 when Adi (Aditya Chopra) and my writer Shibani (Bathija) saw an episode of Farooque Sheikh’s Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai on television. Sanju baba was the guest on that show. Shibani was completely bowled over by baba’s love for his daughter Trishala and could see the pain and angst in his eyes. She called me immediately to say that we had found our Vikrant Raina. I caught the episode later and couldn’t agree more! Vikrant Raina was written for Sanjay Dutt!”

Sanjay is happy with how Kidnap turned out, “I am happy the film is complete, ready and looking good. It is my first release in 2008. I play a father to Sonia (Minissha Lamba) who is kidnapped by Kabir (Imran Khan). It’s an edge-of-the-seat thriller, which everyone is bound to enjoy. It has some great action and emotion and has been well written and directed. I hope my audience goes out and watches it.

Next up is EMI and also in the pipeline are Aladdin, Blue and Munnabhai 3. He has plans to start his own production house as well.

Being soft hearted, yet so strong willed, Sanjay has overcome the greatest of challenges. He was knocked down by them, but he continues to always get back on his feet. He has his shares of flops but is always seen rushing back with a greater hit, a comeback that will leave everyone talking. There will never be any lack of news involving Sanjay. Be it good or bad, his fans are always there for him, waiting for his next move. Sanjay Dutt, one of Bollywood’s most influential actors, I’ll await your next great move.

A sexy actor. A great father. These are just a few qualities of the man we all know as Arjun Rampal. He started out as a model and became one of the greatest rising stars Bollywood has ever seen. From Pyar Ishq Aur Mohabbat to Don and Om Shanti Om, Arjun has proven himself to be flexible and quite versatile. Cousin to another Bollywood star, Kim Sharma, Arjun has yet to reach the goal of ruling Bollywood.

Born on November 26, 1972, nobody would have known that a young boy who grew up in the small town of Jabalpur would end up being an up and rising star in the Bollywood film industry. Standing at an amazing six foot two, Arjun has made wonders in just eight years. Son of Gwen and Amarjeet Rampal, Arjun went to study, along with is sister, at Kodaikanal International School, a boarding school in Palani Hills where his mother was a teacher. He then went to college but did not have much interest in his studies. He, in fact, was interested in girls. Well, boys will be boys… though he did well in his studies too.

When he was 17, he wouldn’t have thought that going to a discotheque would be his first step into the entertainment world. Discovered and launched by Rohit Bal, a famous designer, Arjun became one of the well sought out models and became Rohit’s prot

We have seen Bollywood movies and we know the different genres they have. Drama, comedy, musical and all. There is only one thing that gets an audience in the movie theatre to start sniffing, and that is… Tear Jerking scenes. Meaning, sad scenes. What makes a sad scene? It can be a child losing his parents when he was young, an old man dying and many more others. Now, you see, I’m a very difficult person when it comes to crying. To me, most sad scenes always involve a person dying from a complicated disease and stuff like that. And this is my list of the Top 5 most tear jerking scenes.

Number 5: The whole ending scene in Umrao Jaan.

Ah, you were kidnapped when you were young and were sold off to a brothel. You were taken good care of there and fell in love with a Prince. You almost got raped by a thief and the Prince rejected you. Then you got raped by a man whom you considered as your own brother and the brothel was burnt down. You then thought of going back to your parents’ house since its better that way. But how do you explain it to your family when you get home? All they care about is that you were a courtesan, and they are disgusted by you. You only feel more hurt by that. Hurt by the world, your family and hurt for being who you were and what you are now. That scene makes me cry. Just a little actually. The feeling of hurt was there when I saw the scene. I could imagine myself trying to tell my own family why I have become who I am but all they seem to do is ignore me and eventually throw me out of the house. And then as if that wasn’t enough, I get teased by the people in the hall while I try to concentrate on dancing but even that is ruined. The whole song in which she sang about her life, flashbacks about her olden days, brought sadness to me. Ending up a spinster was even worse.

Number 4: Krrish – Daadi fight.

“I am not allowed to go anywhere at all. All I do is stay here and look at your face. Is that what you want??” I don’t know why but this scene always makes me cry. Some of you have probably experience the same thing before. Your parents or your grandparents won’t allow you to go anywhere and this totally annoys you, so you end up crying and screaming at them. That happens to me sometimes. Not the crying, screaming part but the part where Krishna said that he couldn’t go anywhere and this makes him feel cooped up. It’s the same for me. I couldn’t go anywhere with my friends, couldn’t have any relationships with anyone outside my home, and I always needed permission from my parents. So when I first saw that scene, I said to myself “Hey, that happened to me too.” Unfortunately, I went to watch the movie with my mum, so she turned to me and said, “Don’t you dare say anything. I’ll smack you if you do.” So I kept quiet after that. Even so, that scene always makes me cry.

Number 3: “I wish I was in your shoes.” Scene in Kal Ho Naa Ho.

Okay, those who cried during that scene, hands up. One…two.. ah forget it. I know you all did. You remember that part? Where SRK ran all the way to find Saif first after being in hospital. That scene was totally crap. Anyways, that’s not the scene I am talking about. It’s the scene that is AFTER the crap scene. SRK explained to Saif why he won’t let Preity near him and Saif retorted “If you were in my shoes, what would you have done?!” SRK answered “I wish… I wish I was in your shoes” and left. Goodness that scene always gets to me. He did imagine being in Saif’s shoes and that’s what’s really depressing. A dying man’s wish that you could never grant.

Number 2: The Speech scene in Black.

Basically for some, this movie instills confidence and pride, showing the world how a blind girl could overcome obstacles around her with much suffering and all. However, it’s the speech she gave during the ending with her mom translating it for her that made me all teary eyed. Her story about how she overcame all the obstacles, how she felt about it, and what she did… truly amazing. My heart just swells with pride and my eyes start tearing up. The part where she explained about her teacher and ends up going “Theee!!” totally did it for me. I went “awwww!!” and tears kept flowing and flowing. It really is a great scene.

Number 1: And my Number 1 most sad scene is…. The Death of Ishwar in Waqt.

Goodness, have you seen the movie? Its quite a good choice for those who wish to sit back on the couch with drinks on the table and no one to disturb you for the night type of movie. The movie Waqt, which was directed by Vipul Shah, has all the comedy and drama that a family needs. The timing given certainly had paid off well. Waqt is about a man suffering from cancer and he has only a few months to live. His son is a spoil brat who wishes to be a famous actor, to have recognition around the world. Before he dies, he wishes to see that his son becomes independent before starting his own family. But what happens if the son already has a wife and she is pregnant? What happens if the man only has a few months to live? Time is not on his side, but it’s the race against time. However, we are not talking about the movie, my dears. We are talking about the ending scene. If you wish to know more about the movie, I suggest you go watch it then.

What about the ending scene eh? Well, you see, it’s the part where the man, Ishwar, finally reaches his end. And during that ending, his son finally has his own recognition and independence. Also during the ending, the son finds out about his fathers’ illness and that he is dying from cancer. The son, Adi, begs to the public on national television to give just one… just one minute to his dad, so that his dad can see and hold his grandchild before he goes. At last, father and son hug in front of the public – the father being proud of what his son has become. Alas, the inevitable arrives and the father collapses in the brink of death, while Adi’s wife collapses in pain of giving birth.

The ending shows us that Ishwar manages to stay on until his grandchild is born to the world. Both father and son have a lovely talk, laughing and chatting about the future. There is a part during that scene that always makes me cry. It’s the scene when the servant asks Ishwar, “When are you coming back?” and that scene always stays in my mind. When the father is asked to christen the child with a name, he says “Ishwar is the name…” and breathes out his final breath.

Well that’s all I can say. Maybe you might have your own tear jerking scene which I might have missed, but everybody has their own opinions. So there you have it – my five favorite tear jerking scenes in Bollywood cinema.

Remember how you felt that the Transformers were almost real just through the TV set? Well here is a better version of Transformers. Watching it in full screen that is. The effects and the colors with better quality, you can actually feel that it is real!

From the start, you are already laughing and you still are in the end. Shia Labeouf plays Sam Witwikki, the main character who the robots are actually looking for. He started off as a geek who was already in a bad shape with the grades and the girls!. But his father promises to buy him a car when he gets an A. He did.. but he got a second hand camero instead. And that is where all the action starts. Megan Fox plays Mikaela in the movie, the girl Sam wants to be with. The movie, directed by Michael Bay, is well written and well packed. You can actually feel the earth rumbling as the robots land, you can feel the fear in you being gripped on tightly as the robots fight. And don’t think that the robots are just plain serious, they have a sense of humour too. You don’t get to see a 20 feet tall robot standing in the middle of your backyard do you? And you haven’t seen six of those tall looking giant robots, trying to hide in your backyard, hiding from your parents eyes don’t you? Well in Transformers, they do have it. Josh Dushamel plays a simple yet somewhat of a leading part too, as he plays Captain Lennox, a Soldier in Qatar. The soldiers were the first to have direct contacts with the Decpticons and they have a part to bring down these aliens too.

The main robot character is Megatron, whom some might know as Decepticons, who tries to take over the planet but fails as he falls down to earth and crash lands. There he meets Captain Witwikki, whose discovery was made great but unfortunately many labeled him as crazy. His grandson, Sam Witwikki, manages to grab hold of some of his Grandfathers’ items, including his glasses, which is the source of the whole movie actually. Thus came Optimus Prime and his Autobots who then try to save the world by getting to Sam first and get the glasses, which leads to a cube, and that all will be understandable only if you watch the film.

What I really like about the movie is that it has a great sense of humour base and storyline. The timing is perfect and even though you know its a serious scene, you can never fail to catch those lines being thrown at you. And another thing I like is the cars. I’m a car and bikes fan and so this movie has a whole lot of them. How? Hear this.. Pontiac Solstice, Porsche and a Camaro. Theres two version of Camaro and that is the 1976 Camaro and the other is the Concept Camaro and this car potrays Bumblebee, the car Sam has. The movie even has a Mustang which is not really a mustang for Mustang Decepticon, A Chevrolet SRR Truck, A Barricade Evil Saleen S28, A Hummer H2, A Topkick Warrior, and for Optimus Prime, A Peterbilt Truck. Other than cars, they have military vehicles such as the F-14 Jet, MH-53 Helicopter and an F-22 Raptor Fighter. All these jet-slick vehicles are a man’s best friend, and all these can be seen in Transformers.

What really bothers me is that in the movie, there is a lot of goofs and such. For instance, the main goof is that Sam, Mikaela and Bumblebee were being chased by one of the Decpticons, it was day. But in the end, when the chase was over, it was night. There are some weird scenes too but just watch the movie.

Well, Transformers is one of my favourite Marvel movies and this is a must watch movie. Hence, thumbs up to Michael Bay for yet another outstanding movie.

One defining factor of Bollywood is its inimitable style. We’ve got the looks and we’ve got the bodies that the world dies for. The question is, how do our stars get them? Read on to find out what you can do to give our stars a run for their money! From Hrithik, Akshay and John to Aishwarya, Esha and Sushmita–we’ve got the look you’re looking for.

First up is Hrithik Roshan. This 6-foot tall dude with a stunning body is a crazy workout freak. He pays most attention to his upper body area (abs, tricepts, etc). The result is the awesomely carved, washboard body look in Dhoom 2. What’s the secret to such gorgeous abs? Hrithik avoids fatty foods such as butter, ghee and oil. How do you stay away from these foods? The answer is eating grilled, roasted or boiled food instead. This way you can eat up to six times a day and never gain any weight. Your body type depends on your diet–and only you can control your diet. Hrithik trains up to four times a week, cardio three times a week and he exercises for about an hour a day. Cardio involves jogging or skipping for half an hour and if you do it daily, you can cut it down to 15 minutes a day. Hrithik also exercises when he has the free time to do so. “If sometimes I don’t get the time to workout for two or three days because of shooting or something then third day I come back home in the night and go to my friend Uday Chopra’s gym. I workout till two to three in the night and then I sleep and wake up for work again.” And the result to such exercise? Well, watch Dhoom 2 and you’ll get your answer!

Next, Akshay Kumar–one of the fittest guys in the industry. From his debut to his latest movie, he maintains his physique with such ease that makes others envious. But would you believe it if I say that he doesn’t believe in weight lifting or heavy weights? Believe it. He does work out though, just to improve his stamina. So, what does he do to get that body anyways? One word. Basketball. Yes, basketball! He plays basketball for about three times a week and he also walks for miles to a distant suburb. He also treads on mountains at least twice a week! He is a foodie and will anything but oily food. He prefers boiled food. He eats early in the morning so that it’ll disappear in the afternoon when you use energy. Akshay also does martial arts which is a form of exercise as well. He also believes in Ayurveda and has an Ayurveda master by his side wherever he goes.

John Abraham–the unforsaken attitude, the cutest hairstyle and the body to die for. Did you know, he used to play football and basketball during his school and college days? He is also very health concsious and is a vegetarian. He doesn’t take supplements to enhance his body either. John works out for about two or three hours a day, which mostly consists of weight lifting and kick-boxing. He also goes to the gym at times to do cardio sessions with his physical trainer. The reason why John is a vegetarian is because he is an animal lover. Cute, na?

Now to the lovely ladies! The ‘Mistress of Spices’ and our very own ‘Umrao Jaan’ of the silver screen…Aishwarya Rai! Though we mostly see her covered, I’m focusing on the “Su-Neh-Ri” body. Yes, it’s Dhoom 2 again ladies and gentlemen. Those abs and those curves! How does she do it? She says that you have to avoid oily food, eat regularly, have your breakfast at the perfect time and of course, exercise. However, Aishwarya admits that she is not a diet fanatic and loves her food. She doesn’t use any specific diet to attain such a body. She belives that you take in what your body wants and when you know it’s enough, you stop. She is also a sweets addict. Whenever the sweet tooth kicks in, she gives into it. Still, she never fails to impress us with her body!

Esha Deol, the tomboy turned vixen in Dhoom. No matter what, one cannot deny how impressive she looked in “Dhoom Machale”, rocking some seriously hot abs. They’re not the manly type that scare you, yet they look soft and scream “Don’t mess with me.” Esha goes to a gym regularly to get that kind of abdomen. SHe undergoes vigorous training and exercise and takes complete control of her mind to maintain that perfect figure, even after Dhoom. Other than exercise, Esha loves to dance. It contributes to exercise and also helps to relieve stress. She is a trained classical dancer and mostly practices with her mother and younger sister. Sometimes she includes a bit of modern, international and classical dance all in one. Truth is, if you dance and dance and dance, you will get a beautifully shaped body in no time.

Last but not least, Sushmita Sen. The radiant glow on her face never seems to fade even after all these years, along with her smashing body. “If your mind is under control and is tuned to positive thoughts, you are a winner in the beauty field.” True that! Sushmita avoids fried food especially fast food varieties which is quite rampant right now. She advises the younger generation by telling them to keep a balanced diet among the night-life and heavy partying so that they can keep themselves healthy. “Young people party relentlessly and their eating habits become erratic and damaging to their systems,” Sushmita says. Sushmita starts her day with cereal, milk and a few almonds and claims this is enough to keep her full of energy. Fruits and juices are also a part of her daily diet. And for that glowing skin? Papaya and orange juice are applied to her skin daily. She also indulges in yoga and meditation. Many people believe that if you have control over your mind, body and soul, you can control your life too. Yoga and meditation help to reduce stress from your hectic lives. If you want to stay cheerful like Sushmita, wear bright colours! Pastel colours like beige, green and pink help to reduce anger and sadness and replace it with eagerness and energy.

Now that you know the secrets of our Bollywood stars, why not have your own body to die for? Girls will ove you and guys will drool over you. Come on, get working…you can create your very own dhoom as well!

Starring: Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, Rosemary Harris and Bryce Dallas Howard
Director: Sam Raimi

Spiderman 3 makes villains look good!

Finally, all the Spiderman fans can find relief from the itch of watching the third movie of the series, Spiderman 3, as it makes its worldwide release this week. All set to open the summer season, Spiderman 3 has stormed into theatres with a big bang.

Let’s get straight to it–does Spiderman 3 impress? Yes, it’s an awesome movie! Fun-filled, action-packed and doses of comedy; it’s a movie you shouldn’t miss.

However, it’s essential that you watch the first two parts to understand this one.

So after two rocking stories, what’s the third one about? It’s about Ben Parker, how he died and who actually killed him. We all know that the original died in the first movie…but what if I tell you that’s not true? This is where the third installment takes off. The killer is still alive–and that killer is Marko Flint. Marko managed to run away from prison and escape from the police after which, unfortunately, he fell into a pit of sand. In order to sustain the suspense, I won’t give away any more!

What really forms the crux of this story is Spiderman’s transformation into ‘Dark Spiderman’. While Peter Parker struggles to come to terms with his life, its relationships, and his abilities, destiny seems to have something else in store for him. As his suit suddenly changes, it begins to change his behaviour and makes him more self-centred and overconfident. Trying to solve problems with his girlfriend Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst), his best friend Harry Osborne and a co-worked named Eddie Brock, Peter is forced to deal with the bewitching powers of his new suit and protect the people he loves from two of the most dangerous villains–Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and Venom (Topher Grace).

Tobey Maguire sure was good-looking, as usual, and nerdy as ever. However, nobody would expect Tobey to end up the baddest boy in town. With a new and evil hairstyle, fresh costume–the actor seems rejuvenated even though it’s the third time he’s playing Spiderman. Make sure you watch out for his dancing–boy, can this Spidey move! Kirsten Dunst was a total bore. Yes, she looked hot, but her character was less enticing than in the previous two films. Other than screaming or being kidnapped, she had nothing more to do. James Franco, who played Green Goblin Jr., was totally hunky when he showed off his torso to the audience. He managed to bring out his character very well. Thomas Haden Church as Sandman was awesome. If you think he’s just another villain, you are wrong. He plays a pivotal role in the film. Topher Grace as Eddie Brock/Venom plays a character trying to oust Peter from his job at the Daily Bugle. You might remember him from That 70′s Show (where he played Eric). This film is a complete turnaround from anything he’s done before, and he should receive loads of accolades. Overall, as mentioned before, Spiderman 3 makes each villain look damn good and irresistibly evil.

However, the film doesn’t score on all accounts. As mentioned earlier, Mary Jane’s character seemed half baked. Secondly, the plot is quite confusing. While some will enjoy it, there are too many twists and turns which would give the average person a headache.

Oh, and make sure not to get seats in the front three rows, even if you are dying to watch it! With so many special effects, a confusing plot…your head tilted back doesn’t help!

Though the plot can be confusing, it’s understandable especially if you’ve seen the first two films. Another area where the film was incredibly impressive was teh comic timing. It’s wonderful to see comedy woven into an out-and-out action movie so well. Also, the visual effects are noticeable but believable. The background score is brilliant and makes the movie an even better watch. It contributes to the dark and evil theme very well. The climax scene was undoubtedly a total knockout and the best part of the movie.

Overall, Spiderman 3 is style and substance rolled into one fantastic film. Don’t miss it!

What we don’t know is what gifts the couple received. Now imagine if we could send them gifts ourselves! What would you send? Here’s a list of ten gifts that BollySpice would gift Abhiwarya for their wedding.

10. We would get them a potrait of themselves to be hung in either their room or in the hallway. They will need to remind people that they are married, and need to remind themseleves that they are married, and thus nobody will ever bother them much about seperating their roles in movies.

9. MotoRola Rokr phones! (If only I had the money). This would be so that they can call each other up when they miss each other..

8. Two Loreal Mascaras and Eyeliners. Haven’t you guys noticed? Abhishek has been trying out Aishwaryas’ cosmetics for the past few days.

7. Laddoos.. Loads and loads and loads and loads of ladoos….

6. ‘A Love Story’ by Erich Segal… (Sheesh, as if their love story isn’t that interesting..)

5. A script that is inspired by their love story. We might add some spice into the script, who knows… *evil thoughts*

4. We’d probably recommend them a designer or something. Sheesh, Abhisheks’ wardrobe has been looking so bland these days..

3. New wardrobe for Abhishek and Aishwarya… To be in the next Top 50 Best Dressed People…

2. A Big Bed! To have lots of Rest and loads of children, they’re going to need a comfortable bed. Plus, Abhi is really tall!

1. A baby cot… awww. Who knows, there might be a new addition to the Bachchan family very soon. Pray people, pray!

The dreams of many came true on 20th April when the hottest couple, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, tied the wedding knot. Now the Bachchan family is complete. But what’s raising eyebrows now is the question “What should Aishwarya be called?”

Should she keep her last name, or change it? In the past, actresses like Kajol and Madhuri have adpoted their husbands’ names behind their own. At the same time, some actresses like Juhi Chawla kept thier maiden names. On the other hand, actresses including Jaya Bachchan took their husband’s last name.

So, should Aishwarya follow in Jaya’s footsteps and call herself Aishwarya Bachchan from now on? Or should she just keep it as Aishwarya Rai? Or maybe even, mix and mach and call herself Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan?

In a poll conducted on BollySpice forum, 59% of the votes were in favour of Aishwarya becoming Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan. However, 26% argued that her name should not be altered because it has become her identity and represents who she is. Only 14% voted that she should change it to Aishwarya Bachchan.

In my opinion, Aishwarya Bachchan doesn’t sound all that good. Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan sounds classy but it’s quite long and might be difficult to pronounce for some. However, it makes sense because it was the name Amitabh Bachchan’s father used as well. Either way, let’s hope she knows what she’s doing!

From Dhai Akshar Prem Ke till Guru, this duo have been making headlines for years. For the past few days, it has been impossible to read the papers without having any news about this couple. From where they have been with to where they were at, journalists and reporters are not even one bit tired to let the whole world know!

First up is Abhishek Bachchan. about eight years ago, Abhishek Bachchan was a nobody. Standing by his dad shoulder to shoulder and behind his mom, The world never did know whether this little guy could grow up to fit his fathers’ shoes. Born on 5th January, 1976 to to Bollywood legend and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan & Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan, the 6’1″ feet tall boy suddenly emerged from the shadows in 2000 and gave us a new movie, titled Refugee. Unfortunately, luck was not shining on him when his emerging colleague, Hrithik Roshan, came up with a hit blockbuster on that same year too. Luck seemed to evade AB Jr. for quite some time, as flop after flop piled up, one right after another. In between there were some average movies like Kuch Naa Kaho which still couldn’t salvage his career. On top of that, his engagement to Karishma Kapoor ended sourly when Karishma decided to call the wedding off. And just when we thought that Small B’s career was going to an end, he surprised us with a hit performance in 2004 with a movie titled Yuva. Abhishek’s performance in Yuva left critics and audiences dumbfounded and gave his career a much-needed boost. It seemed that Lady Luck was feeling guilty about the fact she hadn’t payed any attention to him and gave him a little flick to make 2004 became the Year of Abhishek Bachchan. He again gave us another perfect performance in Dhoom, which was the confirmation to the world that Abhishek Bachchan is here to stay. After that, how he single handedly did it, I have no idea. 2005 was the year of special appearances for Abhishek and mediocre performances such as Sarkar, Salaam Namaste and Dus. During this time, gossip about his relationship with Dipannita Sharma was doing the rounds, and later, their breakup. At the same time, rumours began to surface about Abhi’s relationship with Aishwarya during their filming of Umrao Jaan, although both denied all rumours. 2006 saw Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Umrao Jaan (alongside Aishwarya) becoming mediocre movies. He then again gave his role as Jai Dixit another go and gave another Ace Performance in Dhoom II. Aishwarya was part of Dhoom II also but she wasn’t paired up with him, and instead with Hrithik Roshan. Before Dhoom II was released in theatres, rumours about the couple were at an all-time high. Soon enough, controversies about the kiss between Hrithik and Aishwarya in the film went around the world like a bushfire. Earlier this year came Guru, which truly marked Abhishek’s arrival as a fine performer and an A-league hero. Right before the release of the film, the couple announced their engagement…and the rest is history! With more movies coming up, this Little B has become the Hottest B around.

And now, Aishwarya Rai. The 5’7″ Scorpio girl was born in Karnataka, Mangalore in India on November 1,1973. After winning Miss World in 1994, the acting world opened up to her. She debuted in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film, Iruvar alongside Mohanlal and Tabu. She was then introduced to the Bollywood film industry in Aur Pyar Ho Gaya, alongside with Bobby Deol. However, her career didn’t take off immediately. She later did very well in the next Tamil movie, Jeans and also in Kandukonain Kandukonain. She then appeared in the popular film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, with Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan, who then started a relationship with her. Though when things started to go well, their relationship turned sour. Their breakup a few years later generated a substantial amount of press attention. Aishwarya’s next release was Taal, for which she got good reviews. She acted with the other two Khans, Aamir Khan in Mela as special appearance and with Shah Rukh Khan in Josh. In 2000, she acted with Abhishek for the first time in the movie Dhai Akshar Prem Ke but the movie performed poorly at the box office. Her career was given a further boost with Devdas in which she played Paro. Though she was all over the news, Aishwarya kept her profile very low. In 2004, she stated dating actor Viveik Oberoi. In fact, nobody even knew that she and Viveik Oberoi were in a relationship only after a few months they were together. The two then acted in their first film together, Kyun! Ho Gaya Na but even that didn’t go too well for either of them. Their relationship ended in 2005. Shortly after, she was rumoured to be with Abhishek. The raging headlines didn’t seem to make Ash sway one bit. She was also chosen by TIME Magazine to be one of the “100 Most Influential People” in 2004 and was then a subject of a 60 Minutes profile on January 2, 2005 as “The Most Beautiful Face in The World”. She was then invited to appear in one of David Letterman’s segment and also on the Oprah Winfrey Show in that same year. And if that wasn’t enough, a wax figure of Aishwarya is displayed in London’s Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. Aishwarya then was given a chance to act in foreign film when British director Gurinder Chadha got her a part in her movie Bride and Prejudice, a Hollywood-Bollywood funded movie inspired by a classic novel from Jane Austen’s, Pride and Prejudice. Her next foreign film was Mistress of Spices, which flopped all over in 2006. During the filming of Umrao Jaan, headlines heated up and she was eventually seen with Abhishek and his family at various events, confirming a relationship. Though news about her being a ‘Manglik’ filled the air, this did not seem to affect Ash and Abhi’s relationship. Finally on January 14, 2007, they both officially bonded by getting engaged and that ended all the rumours.

So there you have it. Bollywood’s Most Talked About Couple in full glance. Bollywood Hunk, Abhishek Bachchan and Hottest Woman, Aishwarya Rai. Maybe there should be a story written about these two. Or maybe even a movie. A comic novel could be more interesting actually. Though I am not such a big fan of their relationship, it would be a shame to see it going down the drain. We wish them luck in all their future endeavours!

The two-year relationship between the one of the most loving couples in Tinsel Town has come to a sudden end. Saif Ali Khan’s relationship with his Italian girlfriend, Rosa Catalano, has been cut short while Saif announced the news in early March. The couple has been living together for about two years after Saif divorced his wife of fourteen years, Amrita Singh. Recently the actor was rushed to the hospital after claiming to have acute chest pains and was later diagnosed with clots in his heart. Fortunately, the treatment went well and the actor was released from the hospital safely. However, the real world did gave him a surprise after Rosa decided to leave him and go back to Luzern, Switzerland — her hometown. She is expected to return to Mumbai in a few weeks time to start her own career. Rumours also suggest that she will be hosting a show on fashion.

Although there are no definite reasons, the split has been attributed to strains and “uncountable differences” between them, but reluctant Saif didn’t want to expose anymore reasons. “Rosa and I have decided to part ways. Yes, she has gone back home. That’s the gist of all I want to say at the moment,” Saif stated in a statement for the media. A close buddy revealed that things were getting sticky between them, but what exactly can be the cause of the split? Saif’s fans and the general public seem to believe that the split was for the better, but what if it actually turns out to be for the worse? Although Saif has put up a cool and calm front, his friends claim that he is more hurt than ever. What if this could be a setback to his upcoming films and movies? Or on the other hand, will it give Saif a new lease of life? Only time will tell!

So, getting a bit nosy here…what exactly could be the reason for the split? It could be that one of them wanted to get married while the other didn’t. Or, it could also be the fact that the thought of taking care of Saif’s children during family holidays was too much for Rosa. Rosa did once said that she was tired of being Saifs’ “arm candy”. Or maybe, just maybe, Saif has started to think about his ex-wife Amrita once again. However, it’s most probable that Rosa wants to fulfill her glamorous career but with Saif around, she can’t establish any name other than “Saif’s girlfriend, Rosa”. Maybe they are just tired of looking at each other everyday and while one wants to eat naan, the other might want to eat pasta de la sou. And one more thought that is on everyone’s mind: Should he get back to his ex-wife, Amrita? Maybe he should, after the recent heart scare and all, it hints that Rosa may not have been taking ac good care of Saif as she should have. Sometimes you should just let your love lay low, because once you split, the world will be there on your heels trying to get every detail about what, when and how it happened. Oh well, it’s time that all Saifu-fans come together and support our Langda! Message for Saif: Life is tough but you need to pick up the pieces and move on. You’ve got a rocking career and two beautiful kids, and we can’t wait to see you on screen in your next!
