Fukrey is a twisted coming-of-age drama and deliciously hilarious tale of four young, hapless ‘nobodies’ (‘Fukreys’), running after their individual desires, brought together by one dream. Their lives are turned upside down when they chase that elusive ‘get rich quick’ scheme. The film combines the crazy antics and madcap mishaps of four loser college friends, as their paths cross with an array of colourful characters, from a tough-talking Punjabi female don to a Jugaad Baaz college watchman. Mayhem ensues with predictably hilarious and unexpected results.

Fukrey stars a bevy of talented stars in the Bollywood arena – Richa Chadda (Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Gangs of Wasseypur); Ali Fazal (3 Idiots, The Other End Of The Line) Manjot Singh (Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Udaan), Pulkit Samrat (Bittoo Boss) and Varun Sharma, amongst others.

The film is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, (Teen Thay Bhai), who also shares screenplay adaptation and writing credits with Vipul Vig. The vibrant and eclectic soundtrack is by composer, musician and producer Ram Sampath, noted for his musical scores on such films as: Delhi Belly, Talaash and Khakee.

The acclaimed producer duo Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani lend their sizable producer talents to the film under their production banner Excel Entertainment. The company was founded in 1999 with a vision to make contemporary Indian cinema. With modest beginnings nine years ago, today Excel is considered iconic in changing the sensibilities of Indian viewers, and for pushing the boundaries of ‘reel’ entertainment across the world. Talking about his association with Rahman, Imtiaz said, “We started this film in a big hurry. So, I did not want to trouble him but we stay in touch and I mentioned the story to him one day. We talked about it for a while and he was onboard.”

The duo is sure to recreate the same magic in the upcoming film, but clearly states that the nature of Rockstar and Highway is completely different. Talking about Highway, Imtiaz further adds, “This story is played out on a large and very picturesque terrain. In this kind of journey you feel certain things that can’t be expressed except through music. Most of the songs play in the background in ‘Highway’.”

Rahman echoes his director’s feeling. “It’s a highway journey this time; with the same good company of Imtiaz and lyricist Irshad Kamil.”

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala says: “Highway will again be an all-new musical experience for fans of A.R. Rahman and who other than Imtiaz Ali to bring them to life on screen. I am delighted to present the film.”

‘Highway’ is set in six different states and captures the journey of two completely opposite people who are thrown together by fate. Starring Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt, the film is slated to release on 13th of December, 2013.

I would have never made an erotic thriller like ‘Hate Story’ if I had finance for Freedom. Vikram gave me ‘Hate Story’ as a challenge. Apart from Vikram one of my friends also encouraged me to make a film on this subject.”

Vivek further adds, “While thinking about Freedom, I took ‘Hate Story’ as a challenge and did justice to it. We shot it like a beautiful international thriller. I am happy people loved the film and it also earned good money to start my ambitious project.”

The first of its kind zom-com- Go Goa Gone has certainly made it to the ‘Must Watch’ list with all the praises and commendations that the movie has garnered.  The nerve-tickling chemistry between the trio (Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Anand Tiwari) and the crackling dialogues have certainly been the talk-of-the-town with audiences as well as the critics appreciating the film.

The critics have been betting on the fact that Go Goa Gone is positively different from anything one has seen before. “A zombie fest that’s savagely funny and surreptitiously scary. Go for Go Goa Gone . It is a stressbuster with balls nerve and chutzpah”, mentioned Subash K Jha in his review.

The digital platforms have been buzzing with praises about this film coming in from everywhere. Even people from the industry are left quite impressed with this laugh riot. Bejoy Nambiar tweeted “Go Goa Gone was fultu timepass. @kunalkemmu was super funny in the film. Mazaa aa gaya”.

Amar Akbar & Tony, is an independent production by writer and first-time film director Atul Malhotra, which embodies and celebrates the unique and vibrant landscape of the UK. A comedy drama with a highly original plotline and cleverly developed script, Amar, Akbar & Tony is scheduled for release later this year.

The title alludes to the 1970s Bollywood classic (Amar Akbar and Anthony) and revolves around the strong bond of friendship akin to brotherhood between the three main characters. But that is where the similarities with the Bollywood film ends. Amar, Akbar & Tony is a real coming of age drama that wholly embraces the vibrancy of British Asian culture.

The cast line-up includes Rez Kempton, Sam Vincenti and Martin Delaney who play the three main protagonists – Amar, Akbar and Tony. All three artists have previously appeared in award-winning productions: Kempton in the 2009 film Life Goes On and Spooks, Vincenti in Waking the Dead and Delaney in Katherine Bigelow’s Oscar-winning Zero Dark Thirty. Their characters will provide the audience with a genuine reason to laugh, cry and shout and as we follow their lives, the question remains – will their friendship survive the emotional roller coaster that we call life?

The film also stars the multi-talented actress and singer-songwriter Karen David – famous for her starring roles in the hit BBC drama Waterloo Road and the Hollywood blockbuster, The Scorpion King 2-Rise of a Warrior. Karen plays Meera, an attractive young woman who arrives from India as a new bride. On the surface things seem fine but her marriage is far from happy and despite the odds, Meera struggles on, resulting in a surprising turn of events. Karen, who will be getting married in between filming says: “I found the script so endearing and really appreciated the fresh depiction of South Asians. Meera’s character is so different from anything I’ve played, and it will be a wonderful challenge to play her. There are a lot of complex layers in her character. She is mysterious at first, and a lot is going on behind those eyes that you don’t find out until later on in the story. The characters, and the story lines, are definitely going to get people talking!”

Also starring Laura Aikman as Samantha – an attractive jobbing actress who has visions of hitting the big time but settles for small theatre roles in the meantime. Unlike her character, Laura is a familiar face on the big and small screen, and has been appearing in TV and films since childhood, she became a well-known face on the BBC hospital drama Casualty until she left the cast in 2010. Laura is currently starring alongside Leigh Francis’s alter ego Keith Lemon in his hilarious spoof reality-show Lemon la Vida Loca, in which she plays the role of his Geordie girlfriend, Rosie.

Goldy Notay who is best known for her work in It’s A Wonderful Afterlife and Sex And The City 2, plays Sonia – Amar’s flirtatious and wayward sister. Her reputation precedes her, but deep down Sonia is the family-orientated girl next door with a heart of gold.

Malhotra’s vision is to represent British Asian culture and explore all its complexities from a male perspective. Malhotra comments: “My vision is to portray on film, the self-assuredness and determination of the multicultural youth of today. There have been so many portrayals of Asian people wanting to escape from their cultural heritage, but I wanted to explore the contrasting angle. The film will embrace the vibrancy and distinctiveness of this influential culture and will wear its Asian heart proudly on its sleeve. My film is a celebration of the bonds that tie us together through friendship, love, loss and ultimately redemption.”

An electrifying supporting cast, featuring special cameo appearances by favourites – Meera Syal (Nigel Cole’s All In Good Time, Goodness Gracious Me), Ace Bhatti (The charismatic Dr. Khan from EastEnders) and Nina Wadia (EastEnders, Doctor Who), will certainly add colour to the film. The eclectic line-up also includes; Amrita Acharia who has most recently been seen in the epic fantasy drama Game Of Thrones and Shide Boss – the British Asian singer / songwriter who turned professional after winning Channel 4’s Hollyoaks Unsigned Music Show.

Filmed on location in and around London and in particular on the famous streets of Southall, home to a thriving and successful Asian community, the film aims to appeal to a wide audience attracting the forward-thinking, modern generation of British Asians – who are proud to celebrate their culture and all the trials and tribulations that comes with it.

It was an hair raising experience for the entire crew but Susi used this to his benefit as he shot the entire hunting, which is also used in the film. As per a unit member, “It was a scary site and looked as if we were shooting for a National Geographic animal documentary”. While Susi was shooting this, Neil got excited and started clicking pictures.

Shortcut Romeo is a remake of Susi Ganesh’s super hit Tamil film Thiruttu Payale and is shot in the exotic locations of Kenya. It will release on 21st June, 2013.
