Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Zoya Akhtar have gotten together and decided to hire the most loved mode of transport in Mumbai: The Autorickshaw. What will they be doing you ask… Well, as a promotional stunt, the autos will be placed all over the city hoarding posters of their upcoming awaited movie Luck By Chance. If you do manage to hail down one of the three-wheelers, you will be given a free ride to the destination of your choice in suburban Mumbai. The autos have been named “Auto By Chance”
This has already generated much hype amongst the public for many reasons. Firstly, children and adults alike both prefer the auto to any other transport in the busy city. Secondly, it really is “an unexpected fortune,” which seems to fit the title of the movie. Additionally, Farhan is the new hearth throb of the nation, and this promotional idea will generate more curiosity about the movie and Akhtar too.
Director of LBC, Zoya Akhtar was extremely excited by the idea as was ace producer Ritesh Sidhwani who went on to explain, “Most Mumbaiites use autos. My four-year-old son prefers autos to cars. When we go out, he insists on hiring an auto and my car has to follow!” To add to the interest factor, the promotion has been roped in with a local radio station. An RJ will be interviewing the nth person on the radio who will be lucky enough to hitch a ride on the fortunate auto.
While unfortunately none of the stars will be driving the autos on the street, if you do manage to catch one of these lucky autos, do let us know! The promotion runs until January 30th when the movie is out for release.
