One of the films that many a Hindi cinema fan has on their “I must see this” list is Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan. Aarakshan is a high voltage drama based on one of the most controversial policies of caste based reservations in government jobs and educational institutions. The film boasts an all star cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Deepika Padukone and Prateik.

Aarakshan was shot entirely in Bhopal at Shakuntala Thakral College. About the schedule director Jha has said, “It was a 55 day schedule but we finished 3 days before time. The last day was quite emotional for all of us since we were one big family staying together, working together for so many days.”

About working with Mr. Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika the director said, “Working with Mr.Bachchan has been a phenomenal experience. Even at this age and after doing so many films, he is so charged about his work. If I told him to come on sets at 11 am he would be ready on the sets by 10:30 am, such is the greatness of the man.

“Working with Saif and Deepika too has been superb. They were so hard-working and always up to it. Prateik too is a very sincere and hard-working lad and has a bright future.”

Jha has also been tweeting about the film, since Big B convinced him to join. About Deepika he wrote, “Some of the team here was suprised with @deepikapadukone’s magnificent performance in Aarakshan. I’m surprised at their surprise. I always knew @deepikapadukone would be perfect for the role!”

The film is now in post-production and dubbing for the film has begun. It is set for a release date of August 12th.

There were also some light moments on set and we have these two fabulous videos!

One is Mr Bachchan and the Makkhi

The other is Deepika’s problem with Rotis! Apparently the actress needed the help of the director to make round rotis. She said, “I was so embarrassed, I can totally cook, but roti is a challenge. As with life, the most simplest of things some times get to be a hardest to master.”
