Bollywood Festival 2014 – A grand Salute to Indian Cinema

A mélange of color celebrating Bollywood Films gripped Norway from the 5th– 11th September 2014. The mega annual event was done for the 12th successful time and was executed par excellence by the Festival team headed by the Festival Directors – Nasrullah & Pritpal Qureshi. The occasion was the celebration for immense and unrivalled contribution ofIndian Filmstowards the entertainment industry of not only Norway but the whole of Scandinavia.Undoubtedly the biggest Bollywood festival of Scandinavia, the occasion witnessed the participation of who’s who from Bollywood amalgamated with the crème de la crème of Norway in addition to the local Bollywood fans who attended the festival in large numbers with their families.

The event that was conducted at the state of the art Lørenskog Cinema complex in Norway, where 25 Bollywood and regional films of different genres were screened for the Bollywood fans of Norway. A special screening was also organized in the picturesque amphitheater at Lørenskog as an open sky celebration with huge LED walls at various vantage points so as to ensure obstacle free view of the screen from every part of the amphitheatre for benefit of the audience in the form of outdoor cinema.

The whole event was divided into 2 parts. First part graced the event by the live dance shows where talented dancers from U.K., Poland, Denmark, India & Norway mesmerized the audiences with their spellbinding performances. The second part was the main theatre where all these popular films were screened. The whole festival arena was decorated with Bollywood related branding which made the décor absolutely filmyand unique.

His Excellency the Ambassador of India to Norway Air Chief Marshal (retd.) N.A.K.Browne alongwith his lovely wife were the honorable chief guests for the occasion who were received by the Mayor of Lørenskog Åge Tovan and the Festival Directors Nasrullah & Pritpal Qureshi. Various luminaries from the world of cinema, media, art, fashion& event industry like Sunil Shetty, Mahi Gill, Divya Dutta, Rahul Mitra, Raju Chadha, Sai Kabir, Rajat Rawail, Rajesh Dalal & Captain Rahul Bali attended the event. Eminentartists and performers were called to escalate the enthusiasm of the people and boost their passion and moral.

The highlight of this mega festival was the most spectacular fusion concert by the Living legends from India & Norway -Dr. L. Subramaniam, Kavita Krishnamurti & Øystein Baadsvik Ambi & Bindu Subramaniam who absolutely mesmerized one and all with their magical performances that resulted in a standing ovation by a very responsive audience.

Concluding the Festival, Director Nasrullah Qureshisaid, “ we appreciate the outstanding efforts of the festival team as well as all our guests and audiences for encouraging us by attending this festival. I also thank all the talentedartists who performed magnificently on stage &gelled up to make thisfestival possible.”

Bollywood Festival Norway Awards 2014

Mahi Gill was awarded for her fantabulous performance in Sahib Biwi aur Gangster part 1 & 2, Debut Director Sai Kabir awarded for his film Revolver Rani and Raju Chadha for his contribution to Indian Cinema, Divya Dutta for her role in Bhaag Milka Bhaag and great actor Sunil Shetty for his contribution to Indian cinema as actor and producer.

On the closing day festival had guest of honor Illa Arun and screened Finding Fanny as World Premier.

Bollywood fans feel it is indeed a matter of great pride and happiness for to be a part of the biggest Bollywood festival of Scandinavia.We look forward to take this event to much greater heights in the coming years,with help from our friends in Indian film industry.
