It’s been a year since the death of the legend Michael Jackson aka MJ as he was fondly called by everyone but the truth is that we will always miss him. Fans all over the world continue to make tributes to this King of Pop and Bollywood is no different. Among his numerous fans in the industry are two connoisseur of music Sonu Nigam and Bappi Lahiri.

Sonu Nigam will be collaborating with MJ’s brother Jermaine to record a song as a tribute to MJ after which work on the music video will commence. This will be the fist MJ tribute song to feature his family member. Sonu, who is a great fan of the singer was overjoyed to work with Jermaine and said, “Michael Jackson was a great artist and as an artist it is my duty to appreciate his commendable work. He changed a lot of things in the music industry and I don’t think any singer around the world is left untouched by the kind of work he has done.”

On the other hand, our very own Bappida launched a video album with the song Don’t Say Goodbye- the Hindi version being obviously Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. It also features a remix of the song Michael O’ Michael. The former track was composed by singers Ricky Nelson, Terry Young and Glenda in Los Angeles and the proceeds from the album will be given as charity.” I have sung in the album and it’s a very emotional tribute,” is what he says.

This is not the first time that Bollywood celebrities have paid homage to Jackson. Earlier, Shahrukh Khan had produced a video song under the banner of Red Chillies, which featured many artists and actors from the film industry. The song was composed by the duo Vishal-Shekhar(Dadlani wrote the song a well) and featured the voices of Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Shreya Goshal and KK. SRK, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Anoushka Sharma, Shahid Kapoor and Yuvraj Singh were a part of the video. Vishal echoed everyone’s sentiments by saying, “The idea was derived with just from the thought of Michael. It’s just awesome to see all of us come together out of love for one person and his music. It’s magic!” Also during the recent 2010 Filmfare awards, dancing star Shahid gave his very own dance tribute to Michael when he performed to his hits like Jam, Smooth, Criminal and Thriller. Shahid admitted, “The Filmfare organizers felt I could do the Michael Jackson tribute. And I took up the challenge”.

His family members are definitely touched by the reverence shown to MJ. “We are touched by the gesture,” is what Jermaine said. Speaking to a daily, Michael’s mother Katherine said, “I know that Michael would be very honored and very pleased that his fans all over the world are coming together to celebrate his life”

Michael Jackson had and still continues to have fans in every corner of the world and with everyone wanting to show their love to him, Bolly-world fans definitely don’t want to be left behind.
