In an exciting 19 part series FOX Traveller’s new show ‘STYLE AND THE CITY’ will rediscover fashion, fusion, handpicked from the streets of India with the help of top Indian designers – Rocky S, Rina Dhaka & Ashish Soni.

The designers along with the vivacious host and anchor Shibani Dandekar, will travel to cities like Pushkar, Ajmer, Jaipur, Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Amritsar, Banaras, Agra and Mathura to find inspiration for their designs and incorporate local material from each city – woven cloth, local handicrafts, traditional embroidery and embellishments, locally famous designs which will reflect in their unique creations, to be worn by the celebrities. The show will feature well known faces like Dia Mirza, Priya Sachdeva, Sophie Choudhury, Sarah Jane, Pinky Reddy, and Jackyy Bhagnani among others.

Style & The City will premiere on 15th May 2013 @ 10 p.m. and will air every Wednesday & Thursday on FOX TRAVELLER.

Speaking at the world premiere of the music video, Priyanka Chopra said, “I’m nervous and I’m excited… this is another first for me… my first ever music video. We’ve tried to capture the essence of the song… which essentially is welcoming people into each others world. I was very keen to add some Indian elements into the video… from the styling right down to the ‘thumkas’. I had a great team involved in creating this video and I’m very excited to share it with the world!”

Aamir, who was also shooting for Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom:3 in Chicago earlier this year, was even invited by CNN during the schedule to talk about the impact of the show.

Now Kishore Kumare, a resident of Ranchi, a die heart fan of Satyamev Jayate cycled all the way from his hometown to Mumbai just to meet his idol Aamir Khan.

A source revealed: “He spent two whole days and two sleepless nights at the Khar Police station, refusing to leave the city till he got an audience with Aamir.”

A police officer informed Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao on Friday and Kishore was accompanied to Aamir’s apartment on Saturday morning.

“Inspired by Satyamev Jayate, he brought up to him all the problems faced by people across the country. Aamir spent nearly an hour to convince him to cycle back to Ranchi,” added the source.

Khan has also said that he will come back with a second season of the show next year. We can’t wait!

In fact, a source informed us that Abhinay and Anil have already started auditioning new talent for the show. They are also currently scouting for locations where the Indian version of 24 will be shot. Abhinay will start principal shooting for the show early in the new year, as soon as the cast and locations are finalized.

Anil Kapoor, who has somehow crossed over to Hollywood and also played a cameo in the original American version of 24 in the last season, will be playing the iconic character of Jack Bauer, which is played by Kiefer Sutherland in the original.

Popular Indian channel Colors, owned by Viacom 18 and also known as Aapka Colors in the US and Canada, has bought the broadcasting rights for the Indian version 24 from Anil Kapoor in a deal reportedly pegged at around Rs 150 crore.

Anil Kapoor will also be seen reprising the role of Robert D’Costa aka R.D. in Race 2, which releases on 25th January 2013.

Apparently, the composer was influenced to a great degree when he saw the rushes for the commercial. He was so inspired that despite a busy work schedule decided to create the music for the ad. The ad has been shot across Leh, where the team experienced extreme weather conditions of snow sleet and storms. It was also shot in bamboo forests of Thailand and in a studio in Mumbai. Oh did we mention he also appears in the video as well?

Talking about the ad Mr Rahman said, “I had a great time shooting and making the music for JBL’s new TV commercial.”

The commercial will have a worldwide release on TV from the 26th of October. The theatrical release shall follow from the 1st of November across India. The ad in a 60, 30, 20 and 10 second versions will filter and be aired across the globe. The ad has been produced by Frog Unlimited and directed by Kabir Sadanand. The creatives are the brain child of Edward Anthony of Stirred Creation, the man behind the vision from Harman is director marketing India, Sameer Shah.

What is really cool, besides the incredble music is that when this preview first appeared online on the Harman India Website it hit almost 5000 views within the first six minutes and crashed the server twice. “We’re very pleased with the overwhelming response we have received on the ad from all the fans of JBL and Rahman,” said Sameer Shah, Director, Marketing, Harman International India.

Aamir was very happy and proud to be able to receive such an honour and said that this is not just for him but his entire team of Satyamev Jayate who worked very hard to bring social issues to everyone’s notice. “My whole motive in making Satyamev Jayate happen was to talk about issues that are otherwise never spoken about on public platforms and to make people believe that it is important for us to start eradicating these prevailing issues. Even after 65 years of independence, social discrimination is still a very important part of our society which is very sad,” he said.

Aamir Khan raised issues like dowry, which people are aware of but still exists. He raised the issue of the manual scavengers and how they are still considered to be untouchables. “People told me I am involving myself in legal problems and I may be charged for this but I did not think about all that. In fact, the response encouraged me as I received abundant emails from a lot of youngsters who said they wanted to take initiatives and change things for the better,” he added.

CEO Uday Shankar was also overwhelmed with the honour. “People believe that television is for entertainment, but we believed that spreading awareness through television would be the best thing to do as people would follow it and react to it as well. We hoped it will help change a lot of views,” he said.

Udit Narayan, who has sung some of Aamir’s songs like ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ and ‘Mitwa’ was also present at the function. Several leaders including union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, social justice and empowerment Minister Mukul Wasnik, information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, and NCSC chairman P.L. Punia attended the awards function.

That performance did not get any 10s, however Monday night actor Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd, his pro partner, got a standing O on their full on Bollywood number. Peta and Gilles looked gorgeous in their Bollywood costumes and they rocked the ballroom to the Pussycat Dolls version of “Jai Ho” by A. R. Rahman.

In case you don’t know, ‘Dancing with Stars’ pairs stars, be it film, TV, sports and many other fields, with a professional Ballroom dancer. Each week they have one week to learn classic ballroom steps and dances and perform for the judges and audience. This season they changed it up a bit brought back former stars who had appeared on the show before and some who even won the coveted mirror ball trophy. They also changed it up by adding new styles for one night and that is how Peta and Gilles ended up dancing Bollywood.

Neither Gilles or Peta had ever seen Bollywood before so they brought in Narani Mihraj to give them some pointers on the style and choreography. Though the rehearsal footage showed tears and a tough time, the two came out did it full out Bollyishstyle and the crowd, the judges and even the other contestants loved it.

The judges, who were joined by Paula Abdul as a guest judge loved the dance and their performance so much they got the highest score of the evening 39.5, that included 3 perfect 10s.
