Equal rights activist Celina Jaitley opened the first GLBT Kashish Festival in Mumbai on Thursday. “I want to say this that these films are also about human emotions,” she says, “You will get to see films not only from India but from abroad. I want to invite all of you to witness what human emotions and these movies are all about.”

Amongst the movies on show at the Festival is the wonderful Nina’s Heavenly Delights with Shelley Conn and Laura Fraser about a young woman who runs away to London to avoid an arranged marriage and when she returns three years later finds her father’s Indian restaurant is on the verge of collapse. Can she save it by entering a curry competition – and will she ever find true love? Also on display is the magnificent I Can’t Think Straight with Lisa Ray and Sheetal Sheth with its superb ending.

Celina Jaitley has a pivotal year ahead of her. She recently joined the cast for Thank You, an Akshay Kumar starrer that will also feature Irrfan Khan ans Sonam Kapoor. The film will see Sonam playing a tennis champ along the lines of soon-to-be-married Sania Mirza.
