IIFA to host premieres, special screening & exclusive sneak previews to upcoming films

The 12th Videocon IIFA Weekend has a film extravaganza in store for its fans, a weekend where the magic of Indian Cinema will envelope the city of Toronto. With a number of film briefings taking place, media will be privy to sneak previews of some highly anticipated films including upcoming flicks, Love Breakup Zindagi, Aazaan, Politics of Love and Tell me O Kkhuda. There is also a fantastic line-up of performers and with the crème de la crème of the film fraternity scheduled to attend, the 12th Floriana IIFA Awards are all set to rock the amazing city of Toronto.

For the first time an international film, Politics of Love, will be participating in a film briefing at the Videocon d2h IIFA Weekend. Starring Mallika Sherawat and Hollywood stars, Brian J. White and Loretta Devine, this much-awaited ‘rom-com’ revolves around an unlikely romance during the time of the last presidential election in the United States.

Tell Me O Kkudha is a heart-warming movie about three friends who take a trip and meet a couple of interesting personalities touching the lives of everyone that they meet. The film stars Hema Malini, Dharmendra and daughter, Esha Deol along with Rishi Kapoor, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Arjan Bajwa. Aazaan, one of the movies meeting the global media is a thriller filled with the trappings of an espionage flick complete with action and suspense. In addition to Aazaan and Tell me O Kkhuda, Love Breakup Zindagi will also give world media a sneak peek into the film. The movie, starring Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan is centered around the lives of a group of friends, dealing with crucial situations in their respective lives.

The high octane Videocon d2h IIFA Weekend will open with the IIFA World Premiere of Double Dhamaal, a fastpaced comedy. The film, which is a sequel to the 2007 hit Dhamaal, stars Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Kangna Ranaut, Mallika Sherawat, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaaferi and Ashish Chaudhary. The comedy is produced by Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria in association with Reliance Entertainment.

This year, IIFA also has a special treat in store for its Indo-Canadian fan base – the IIFA Film Festival, set to take place at theatres across four cities of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) beginning on 24th June. Kicking off this film festival will be Chillar Party, co-produced by Ronnie Screwvalla and Salman Khan’s Being Human (SKBH) Productions. The IIFA Film Festival was initiated in 2005 to enable audiences in the host country to experience the flavour of Indian Cinema, showcasing some of the biggest blockbusters and films of repute, which have created a mark in the history of Indian Cinema.

This year’s IIFAs are all set to be bigger and better than ever. Set to perform on the IIFA stage this year are the Deol Family who have never performed on the same stage before. This will be a real treat for cinema lovers to see father and sons dancing to some of the most popular songs from their hit movie Yamla Pagla Deewana. Also setting the stage ablaze this year will be the sizzling Priyanka Chopra. Having taken the magic of Indian Cinema to a host of incredible locations, the International Indian Film Academy will make its debut on North American soil this year in Toronto, Canada, closing with a feast of Indian cinema, the Floriana IIFA Awards.
