Harshvardhan Save WaterHarshvardhan Rane is all the rage on Twitter today. The intense hero of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ posted a photograph of himself covered in cracked-mud symbolic of the barren land due to water scarcity. Alongside the photograph, the hunky star tweeted, “Let this #Holi be more meaningful, let’s save our planet before it becomes totally barren…” Conceptualised and shot by Paul David Martin, the photograph has hit home on the social networking and micro-blogging sites.

Talking about it, Harshvardhan shared that the idea was to have a strong image that would drive the message home. “Water is one of the most basic and vital requirements for survival. And with the issue of water shortage aggravating every single day, it’s just something I felt we had to Harshvardhan Save Water 1address and spread the message on whatever level we can. The idea was to convey that barren lands are becoming a reality and imagine the Earth going dry. So, even if a handful of people decide to have a waterless Holi, I think it’s worth the effort.”

Interestingly, the actor who has always been a forerunner when it comes to supporting social causes had earlier done a special shoot for PETA to support elephants too that had earned him much praise. As for this shoot, he shared that it took about an hour for the Fuller’s Earth (Multani mitti) to dry. He adds, “It caused some discomfort after drying as very thick layers had been applied and all I could think of was that our lands are going through the same. If dry skin can feel that bad imagine what the barren Earth must be like.”
