Karan’s directorial My Name Is Khan is still in the making as well as several other ventures under his production banner. One such project includes the remake of Chris Columbus’s Stepmom, which is to be directed by debutant director Siddharth Malhotra who was the creative producer of the hit TV show Sanjeevani and is the son of production house Cinevistaa’s chairman.

More interesting than the script is the cast that Karan has brought together for this venture. There’s of course all time favourite Kajol and Kareena Kapoor who will be starring together after a period of 8 years (Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, 2001). However, the male lead was a tougher role to cast and was initially declined by Saif Ali Khan who declined the film on the basis of that audiences wouldn’t accept him as both Kajol and Kareena’s husband. This just may have been the case keeping in mind the never ending queue of Saifeena fans!

Karan was determined to make the film more youthful than the original, and so despite having thoughts of casting a more mature actor like Anil Kapoor he opted for John Abraham. Note that this is the second time John will be essaying a role originally offered to Saif Ali Khan as Dostana was also offered to Saif first. Obviously, this means the cold war that once begun on Koffee With Karan between John and Kareena will come to an end.

With such an interesting script in hand and an even more intriguing cast lined up, one simply cannot imagine what the team will bring to the screen! The project is all set to roll as the actors wrap up their existing professional commitments.
