Tollywood’s bindass babe, Nayantara, has suffered the wrath of the censor’s scissors in her new movie Salute. A steamy item number with Vishal called ‘Muddula Muddula’ has been cut in places where the censors felt it would be a bit too steamy for the audience. In Malaysia, it has been cut completely from the film. Vishal says he’s not bothered by the cuts, “It won’t affect the prospects of the film. Salute is a cop story and the audience has so much more in store than that one song, which was added to the film for its potential commercial effect.”

Nayantara is currently rumoured to be he highest paid South Indian actress charging 1.5 crores a film. She has a string of acclaimed appearances behind her, including Ghajini, Boss, Vallavan, Yogi, Sivaji and Billa. She can also currently be seen in Kuselan, the first South Indian movie released simultaneously worldwide.

Nayantara’s kissing scene in Vallavan has provoked a storm when it was released. Does she think it’s right to kiss in a movie? “I work according to the director’s guidance,” she explains, “If the script demands a kissing scene, I think there is nothing wrong with that. I only object to a kiss being inserted if it’s for the purpose of titillation. In Vallavan, I was working with Simbu who is very passionate about films. The scene in question gelled well with the story and did not seem out of place.”
