Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in Bachna Ae Haseeno has thrilled his fans, audiences, as well as has gotten some great reviews from critics. You could really see that he has grown as actor as he took on the character of Raj. The role showed off his incredible talent and you would never believe this was only his second film. So what is next for the young actor? A few more films and he is planning on putting on the directors cap as well. He recently talked to Subhash K Jha about directing for his home banner, BAH and a bit about his films to come.

Interestingly the role in Bachna Ae Haseeno was written for someone else. Can you guess who, with it having all the DDLJ references. You know your Bollywood if you said Shah Rukh Khan but then Aditya Chopra offered Raj to Ranbir, “When the role was offered to me, I grabbed it, I wanted to be part of something that was so young, so today.” Adding, “In Saawariya, I didn’t get the girl, so God made up for that.”

Though fans loved him as Raj he says he never likes himself on screen, “I cringe when I see myself on screen, so I avoid looking.” Well fans certainly did look and the film can definitely be declared a success. Ranbir is proud of that saying, “It’s time to celebrate its success. We have proved ourselves by connecting with the audiences”.

Currently Ranbir is getting ready for his next film for Wake Up Sid with Konkona Sen Sharma and audiences are excited to see the two fine actors paired opposite each other. About working with the National Award winning actress he said, “She’s effortless, just to hang around her is an honour!” He also has Rajniti directed by Prakash Jha, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani opposite Katrina Kaif and Shimit Amin’s Rocket Singh.

The hot star is in very high demand and says he is listening to a new script a day, “But my aim is not superstardom. My target is to achieve what my grandfather did.”

Speaking of the Kapoor dynasty Ranbir also has plans to revive the RK Banner and who is going to direct the film and star in it? Well, he is! “My plan got delayed, but now I’m working on it. Things will fall into place very shortly. I’ll star in the film and direct it.” He said the film will hail back to the heyday of cinema because that is what the RK banner was all about, “It will bring a smile to the face, a tear to the eye, that RK Films was famous for.”

Adding, “I’m passionate about being a director. I’ve lots to say. And I hope audiences accept me as a director as much as they have as an actor.”
