It seems the legendary RK banner may see a revival in the not so distant future. The three Kapoors’, Randhir, Rajeev and Rishi have unanimously decided that Ranbir should be given the power and the chance to run the studio and banner. Rumour has it that RK Junior is currently exploring scripts and looking for the right project for a perfect re-launch.
It seems the banner was forced to shut down after 1999’s Aa Ab Laut Chalein starring Akshaye Khanna and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film bombed at the box office and it seems it took the RK name with it. However, sources close to the Kapoor family have revealed that Karisma and Kareena Kapoor were interested in being a part of a revival venture but plans fell apart when a script could not be agreed on and collective dates became a problem.
Ranbir, it seems, has a huge weight on his shoulders with this legacy. Although the actor doesn’t seem to show any signs of pressure, one can imagine how difficult it must be when trying to prove, not only to his family, that he is worthy of taking his khandaan’s name to new heights but also making the audiences and industry professionals trust in the name all over again. We hope luck stays on his side once a project is decided on!
