It is no surprise that filmmakers do look at old songs for their movie titles – in fact there was a time when every other Bollywood movie title could be traced back to an old classic. And while the makers did stray to English titles in recent times, the age of song name-turned-movie name seems to be back. And the Gen Next appears to be taking the maximum inspiration from evergreen romantic hero, Rishi Kapoor.

Rishi’s own son, Ranbir starred in a 2008 Yash Raj movie, Bachna Ae Haseeno, which was a song from his 1977 hit Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi. Imraan Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer Ek Main Aur Ek Tu (which has already created enough hullabaloo for its title – see here ) is again taken from the song of the same name from Khel Khel Main which saw Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh together. That’s not all. Prateik Babbar’s upcoming remake of Tamil movie Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa with Amy Jackson is named from the song “Ek Hasina Thi, Ek Deewana Tha” from the popular hit Karz.

This is not the first time. Earlier movies like Hrishikesh’s Jhoot Bole Kauva Kate, David Dhavan’s Hum Kisise Kum Nahin and Shah Rukh’s Om Shanti Om have been inspired by Chintu’s movie songs.

Rishi, who already was an inspiration to the upcoming actors, seems to be a great source of inspiration for the filmmakers as well!
