We recently did a story about the dispute between Salim-Sulaiman and the production company UTV regarding the film Heroine. This was the second upheaval for the film within a short span of time.

Composers Salim-Sulaiman had apparently asked UTV for additional royalty’s and this didn’t go down well with the production house, so they refused. According to several sources, Salim-Sulaiman had left the project. But it seems that all is sorted out with both parties agreeing on partial royalty.

Salim confirmed the news. “Yes, we have sorted it out. The issue is a little complicated to explain, but it involved royalty issues. We have come to an amicable solution and we’re definitely doing Heroine now.”

UTV is also very happy with the return of the duo. “It’s great to be working with Salim-Sulaiman again after our hugely successful association on Fashion (2008),” says Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, adding, “The musical score for Heroine needs a style and range that they are best suited for. All of us in the UTV team and Madhur are glad that they are on board.”

Before Aishwarya decided to leave the project, Salim-Sulaiman had done a little bit of work, some very preliminary compositions. But those were just some basic ideas on one of the songs.

Now Kareena Kapoor stepped in to take over the lead role, Salim-Sulaiman are waiting to hear the final draft of the script. After that, they will return and start work on the soundtrack from scratch. “The script has gone through a lot of change, from what I heard. Madhur is going to narrate the new script to us very soon, following which, we will start right away.”

Apparently all is a go because director Madhur Bhandarkar put the news on Twitter today. “Salim – Suleiman to score music for the film Heroine… Music sitting starts today!!!”
