As we reported earlier Salman Khan was chosen as the next Bollywood star to be immortalized in wax for the famous Madam Tussauds Museum. Salman was chosen for this honor after the museum held a contest for fans to decide whom they wanted to see as a wax statue. Over 10,000 votes were cast at the online poll and Salman beat out such illustrious stars as Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan. The statue is almost complete and on January 15th Salman will unveil his likeness in wax at the Madame Tussauds Museum in London.
In a process that takes over 4 months the museum’s sculptors painstakingly create each statue. They use over 500 body measurements as reference and then once the wax statue is complete, layers of paint are added to make the statue life like. To complete the look the statue will be wearing clothes given to the museum by the actor.
Salman said, “I am touched and honoured that my fans have chosen me to appear in prestigious Madame Tussauds. I very much look forward to visiting and coming face to face with my likeness.”
