Young director Soham Shah – of Kaal and Luck fame (or shame, whichever you choose) has decided to expand the dimension of his work, literally! Soham will be directing his first 3-D movie which will be based on the true Marathi Manoos, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Nilesh Rane, son of politician Narayan Rane has signed the director for this big-budgeted movie which will supposedly be on the lines of visually spectacular Hollywood movies like Prince of Persia, 300, Robin Hood and Avatar. In fact the special effects will supposedly be done by the team which worked on Russell Crowe’s Gladiator. Soham, who is pretty much well-versed with the field of graphics and related technology was happy to kick start this project.
Though the final script will be ready in a couple of months, Soham has already started short-listing A-list stars to play the main leads of Shivaji Bhosle and Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Reports state that Sanjay Dutt will be playing the lead though Soham says that Sanjay will definitely star in the movie-but whether as a lead is not something he wished to reveal. The movie may also be made in Marathi.
Let’s hope that the major part of the budget goes into providing decent visual effects- if not at par with Hollywood- and does not end up in the pockets of these superstars.
