There is a battle going on between Yash Raj Films and all the big movie theater chains in India and if they don’t come to an agreement soon, Tashan may not be releasing in India on Friday.

According to reports, chains like Adlabs, PVR, Inox, Fame India, Fun Cinemas, Movietime and Cinemax have all banded together and are fighting with Yash Raj about the revenue shares in cities outside of Mumbai.

Sanjeev Kohli ,Yash Raj Films CEO said, “YRF has not asked the multiplexes for any incremental terms from those concluded for last year. The terms being discussed are the same as those agreed upon for our films of last year. As done in the past, YRF will compensate the multiplexes in the event that a film does not perform to expectation; we have done this last year as well.”

Besides affecting Tashan, this struggle may also impact future Yash Raj releases including Kunal Kohli’s Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, Siddharth Anand’s Bachna Ae Haseeno and Roadside Romeo.

This has been an ongoing disagreement between the owners of the theaters and film producers not just Yash Raj. Welcome, Taare Zameen Par and Jodhaa Akbar all were released a day late because of late negations between the parties. They did come to an agreement eventually and this is expected to happen in the case of Tashan but when still remains to be seen!
