She blew us away with her item number in 36 China Town and Sambhavna Seth is pleased that she did so. “Since I did not have many acting offers at that time, I thought its better to start with item numbers.” She goes on to suggest that item performers do not get the recognition they deserve in the industry – the item number is after all one of the highlights that people look forward to in any movie. She is perhaps most famous for the recreation of Helen’s ‘Mehbooba’ in the movie Gabbar.
“It’s true that item girls wear revealing clothes but glamour is a requirement of item songs. You cannot do item numbers wearing saarees,” she continues. Sambhavna will soon be entertaining us again in Mudrank, based on the life of stamp king Abdul Tarim Kelgi. In fact, Mudrank is a bit of an item-fest with four item numbers including one by Rakhi Sawant.
Is Sambhavna happy to always be an item girl? “I would like to move on and take up good roles in films as that would be a natural progression,” she says. What would she have done if she hadn’t picked up roles in the movies? “If not acting and dancing, I would have surely been a Police Officer,” she explains too much surprise. And is there a boyfriend on the horizon? “Right now there is no place for romance in my life. Of course in future there will be. It’s every girl’s dream to fall in love and one day I will fall in love too.”
