The state of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine is still very much up in the air. Reports are flying as to who will replace Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after the film was shelved because of Aishwarya’s pregnancy. One of the biggest rumors making the rounds is that Kareena Kapoor will take over the role again. Originally, she was to star in the film, but because of date problems she was not able to do the role and Madhur moved on to Aishwarya. Now apparently it might be back to Kareena.

Madhur has met with the actress to talk about the film, but it is no way decided she will take the part. A source told us, “While Kareena has heard the script again, she has not responded on whether she will do it or not.”

Once again the date problem is popping up, Kareena said in a recent interview, “I don’t have any dates till January next year so I’m not going to sign on any movie til October. I’m really keen to work with Madhur but you’ll have to wait for an official announcement.”

The interesting thing the source said is that if Madhur does have to wait, then why the change in casting. “If Kareena even agrees he will not be able to start until next year, and if that was the case he could have easily waited for Aishwarya.”

If Kareena does agree this time, she told the Hindustani Times she will want to discuss the script, “I liked the script that was narrated to me; if the director is open to discussion, we’ll talk more … He brings out a different side to an actor … I’ve always been an experimental actor rather than just a singing-dancing, glamorous star. I made my debut with the off-beat Refugee and did Chameli when I was 22. I’m open to all kinds of cinema.”

So still in flux we will have to wait and watch to see who will be Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine!
