Om Shanti Om vs. Saawariya

The largest clash of the year by two of the most hyped films erupted in fireworks as November 9th approached. On one end the media decided to launch a war between newcomers Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone when in fact no such war existed. However, directors Farah Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali indulged in several fights through the print medium as their films were pitted against each other. Apparently Bhansali was offended by a comment made by Farah when she called him “Lily” which she denies completely. A man of emotions, Sanjay claimed that both Farah and Shah Rukh Khan had been making comments about him in the media that held negative connotations. Later on when SRK was asked about the clash of OSO with Saawariya he said “As a producer, it is my job to rip them apart.” Bhansali said this comment was uncalled for and largely unneeded. Several headlines later, the battle was settled on the fateful release date of both films when Om Shanti Om went on to become the largest grosser ever and Saawariya was panned by critics and the majority of the audience as well. Looking back, both parties were immature in their own respects and made quite a fool of themselves.
