Are you ready for Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai going retro? That is what you are going to see in their new film Action Replay, which was directed by Vipul Shah. We don’t know much about the story of the film, except that both Aishwarya and Akshay will be portraying many different ages of their characters. In fact, Akshay tweeted during filming, “I am now sitting in my van being tortured by my make up artist to look like an old haggard man in the stunning mountains of Manali..About to shoot the much awaited song with Ash who still looks 21 even when they try and make her look 50!”

About pairing superstars Akshay and Aishwarya together director Shah said, “For me it was an exciting experience because I could bring together Aishwarya and Akshay, a pair I have wanted to bring together for awhile now. They are both good looking, super talented and what’s more they are fashion icons a well. Akki has made an amazing screen presence with some existing girls but believe me he and Aish are special.”

Though the two stars did had a little reel romance in Khakhee, this is the first time the two will be in a full-on rom-com, “Action Replay is our first romantic comedy together. Believe me, I was blushing through the making,” Akshay said.

Akshay has said that this film is his tribute to the 70s, which he calls the greatest retro era. Vipul also talked about creating Mumbai in the 70s, “”We were very particular about the 1970s look recreated at the Nitin Chandrakant Desai’s studio in Karjat. We needed the cars from the 70s which we had to get from all over India from private owners at a very heavy price. The BEST buses in the 1970s were very different from their counterparts today. Getting authentic BEST buses from the 70s was the hardest part of the whole era- recreation. Getting Akshay and Aishwarya to go retro was the easiest thing. They had a ball getting into their wigs clothes and body language.”
