Sujoy Ghosh’s project Aladdin and the Mystery of the Lamp has hit another snag. Ayesha Takia was supposed to play the lead role of Princess Jasmine but now she is no longer part of the project. The reason for her exit from the film is that things did just not work out, according to sources. So now the producers are looking for another leading lady to star opposite, Riteish Deshmukh who is playing Aladdin. It is likely that a fresh face will be casted for the role.

The project all ready hit a big bump when Adlabs, Ramesh Sippy and Rohan Sippy backed out of producing the film. Ghosh is now going to produce the fantasy film himself. “Why not? I’ve the confidence. And I’ve the team behind me. So, yes, I’m producing Aladdin on my own.”

And has the full support of the “Genie of the Lamp”, none other than Amitabh Bachchan. About Ghosh, Big B said “Sujoy is young, ambitious and totally mad. He has dreams.”

The film has an all-star cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Juhi Chawla and Sameera Reddy.

We are eager to know who will now play Jasmine and to see how this film turns out!
