Bollywood Praises India’s First Gold Medal Winner

Abhinav Bindra has made India proud winning the first individual gold medal at the Olympics in China. Bindra won the gold medal in the 10m air rifle event with a near perfect shot. This is the first ever individual gold for India at any Olympics. Three Bollywood A-listers, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan have sent our their congratulations to the athlete for his historic win on their respective blogs.

Amitabh wrote: “As I stepped out of the venue, media from India informed me about our gold at the Olympics. The rousing reception at the show was incredible, but nothing will be able to top the glory that Abhinav Bindra has brought to the heart of every Indian. We are so proud of you and so delighted to have made every Indian walk a little taller. Thank you Abhinav, and more glory and success to you.” He added a quote from a friend of his: “ After almost a century and two billion births, an Indian wins his first individual gold at the Olympics.”

Ajay offered his congratulations to the athlete writing, “I wish to congratulate Bindra for making Indians proud – Kudos Bindra – indeed you have hit a bull’s eye!”

Aamir Khan was thrilled to see Bindra win the gold and wrote: “I had goose bumps when India’s National Anthem began playing. What a moment! My congratulations to Bindra for his achievement. He has done India proud and given us all a moment to celebrate.”

Even more proud are Abhinav’s parents A.S. and Babli Bindra. They spoke to Reuters about their son’s victory. “He has won the greatest medal in the world,” said his proud papa while his mom said jokingly, “Now I have lots of work ahead as he is the country’s most eligible bachelor.”
