This is not referring to the Karan Johar directed film We Are Family but Ram Gopal Varma’s forthcoming film Department that stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Rana Daggubati.
If you havent caught the trailers yet, Department will see Sanjay and Rana essaying the roles of cops in a backdrop of corruption in the force and the ties with the Mafia. While we have seen Sanjay play a police officer before, this is a first time for Rana and when compared to Dum Maaro Dum, the film’s action voltage is somewhat sky-rocketing. But unlike the whispers in the corridors that say Department‘s leading men have characters based on real life people, Rana used his own family to help prepare for the film. “I haven’t modelled myself on any particular cop. Instead what I have done is drawn inspiration from some of my cousins and distant relatives in Hyderabad who have been with the police force. I never understood the insecurities they face until I did the film” he says when speaking to Hindustan Times.
Just by looking at the trailer, we see the training Rana underwent has paid off look wise, let’s see if his inspiration pays off on the big screen with Department set for release on May 18th.
