liffGet Ready because some of the coolest Indian films are coming to London! Yes, it is only one week until the opening of the London Indian Film Festival. BollySpice is always proud to be a media partner for the festival that brings you films way Beyond Bollywood – a rare selection of cutting-edge films from some of India’s hottest independent talents. Not only that the esteemed actor Irrfan Khan will give a masterclass and be ‘In conversation’ on Saturday 20th July at the BFI Southbank this is not to be missed!

Festival director Cary Rajinder Sawhney says, “This July London Indian Film Festival (LIFF), returns to the capital for its fourth edition. Building on last year’s massive success, we are determined to bring you some of the hottest new Indian independent films at venues across London, so there will be screenings near you!

Our Programming team has been scouring the Indian sub-continent to bring together a carefully curated slate of quality films by some of the world’s most innovative and challenging filmmakers. Some highlights include – fresh from Cannes, the UK Premieres of Monsoon Shootout and Bombay Talkies, rare Masterclasses by two internationally acclaimed film personalities Director Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Actor Irrfan Khan. We also welcome the first Pakistani and Gujarati films to the festival.

We are pleased to welcome our new Major Sponsor O2 International Sim, and on-going fantastic support from partners including BFI, Cineworld, Grange Hotels, ICA, BAFTA, Satyajit Ray Foundation and ZEE TV. Other new partners include Technicolor, Santx Ltd and Jaguar. We are also delighted to announce our first movie Tour to Glasgow Film Theatre and National Media Museum, Bradford.

The festival opens on July 18th with Moonsoon Shootout, which stars the incredible Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is joined by Vijay Varma, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Neeraj Kabi. Directed by Amit Kumar, the film fresh from critical acclaim in Cannes, masterfully blends a dark cop thriller with a Sliding Doors style narrative. It explores the impact that one man’s choices make on the lives of others. There will be a Q and A after the screening with the director

The follows a week of fabulous films from all over with films, (all with English subtitles of course) in Hindi, Marathi, Spanish, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali, Urdu, Malayalam – you get a world of Indian Films. There is also the Satyajit Ray Foundation’s Short Film Competition. And the week ends with a bang on July 25th with the gala screening of Bombay Talkies, Mumbai’s spectacular homage to 100 years of Indian cinema is a compilation of four films shot by some of its finest directors. Karan Johar, Anurag Kashayp, Dibakar Banerjee and Zoya Akhtar!
