South TV anchor Lekha Washington will be making her Bollywood debut in Peter Gaya Kaam Se, opposite Aamir’s Rajeev Khandalwal. Lekha has already made movies down south such as Jayamkondam with Vinay and Bhavana; and Rakkozhi opposite Jai. The movie is a thriller and Lekha plays an undercover agent. She says, however, that acting is her greatest love: “I have always loved to pretend to be another person. And I’ve always wanted to act. My parents said – don’t go to the cinema field, its bad – but my desire never died, and here I am.”

Lekha has a deep side to her personality – she likes to read a wide variety of texts. “I read a lot. Milan Kundera, graphic novels, Neil Gaiman is my favourite,” she adds, and her taste is movies generally lies beyond the mainstream masala movies, “I liked The Namesake, Mumbai Meri Jaan, and Maddy’s Evanao Oruvan, My preference is not for mainstream films,” she confirms.
