Bollywood is a man’s world with most of the male hero’s taking dibs and accolades for most films. However, 2010 is on its way to singing a totally different tune. The ladies of Bollywood are on their way to taking over the big screen with a number of heroine-oriented films hitting cinemas in the coming months leading up to the end of the year. Clearly, the women are done being mere objects, pretty objects might we add, but objects nonetheless. They are shedding the glamour quotient and readying themselves for some tough lines and hard plots.

Priyanka Chopra will be playing a serial killing wife in Vishal Bhardwajs’ Saat Khoon Maaf while Sonam Kapoor will be playing Aisha in Bollywood’s first version of Jane Austen’s Emma. Then there are Kajol and Kareena Kapoor who both play central roles in Siddharth Malhotra’s Stepmom remake.

Both Abhishek Bachchan and Vikram, the lead actors of Raavan have jointly claimed that it is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is the real “hero” of the film. The actors believe she will ultimately steal the show.

Bipasha Basu is said to have an incredibly powerful role in her upcoming Lamha while Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherji both star in No One Killed Jessica Lall which depicts the murder mystery of model Jessica Lall.

More recently, Katrina Kaif was seen in an interesting role creating quite an impact amidst a number of powerhouse actors in Raajneeti.

Only time will tell if these ladies manage to succeed and if their respective films do well at the box office. In the meantime, you can be sure these films will be making waves and we’ll be out to give you the latest news as and when we get it!
