Sanjay Gupta hosted a small informal dinner at his residence to celebrate his co-production with Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Motion Pictures on the much-awaited SHOOTOUT AT WADALA. The multi-starrer goes into production in January 2012. The film is a sequel to Gupta’s Shootout at Lokhandwala and stars John Abraham and Anil Kapoor.
Based on the written material by S. Hussain Zaidi’s SHOOT OUT AT WADALA, the story is about Manya Surve (John Abraham), the dreaded gangster of the ’70s, who was killed in an encounter in 1981 by Isaque Bhagwan (Anil Kapoor). Revealing a bit about the shocking story the filmmaker said, “With the film I am exploring the times from the late 70s to the early 80s. We are getting into a zone to understand the psyche of gangsters as well as cops to know more about what led them to declare war on the roads.”
