See if you can think back to 1994 when Mahesh Bhatt remade the southern blockbuster, Gentleman, with the likes of Chiranjeevi and Juhi Chawla in lead roles and you may remember a little boy doing the intro lines of the song ‘Chik Pika Rika Boom Bole’. Flash forward to present day and that voice has now become a composer named Prakash. For the less initiated that Prakash you heard at a young age is G.V. Prakash Kumar, nephew of two-time Academy Award winner A.R.Rahman.

Just like mama Rahman composed 20 plus soundtracks in the south before venturing into Hindi cinema with the cult classic Rangeela in 1995, his nephew Prakash is about to follow suit. Prakash has already made his stamp on Tamil and Telugu Industry with his chartbusting music and he is now getting ready to make his mark in the Hindi film industry by composing the soundtrack for Shirish Kunder’s next directorial venture Joker. The film casts Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Shreyas Talpade and Minissha Lamba together and is Shirish’s next after his debut in 2006 Jaan-E-Mann.

Prakash has excitedly posted tweets on twitter about his debut, “recorded two songs for my first bollywood film ” Joker ” directed by my good buddy shirish kunder …. starring akshay kumar”.

Shirish it seems is pleased with the work so far since he tweeted, “Great start to the music of JOKER. Two kickass songs recorded. One a dance number, and the other a soulful inspiring number.”

Prakash has also revisited his singing days and has sung a few songs which have also met success as well. However, he has said Hindi music lovers may need to wait to him sing again as he tweets “[I’m] waiting to sing a song in hindi…but the diction has to b good enough”.
