The director who was applauded for his genius work in the 2006 blockbuster Rang De Basanti recently didn’t witness a repeat of this appreciation when his second film release, Delhi 6. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi 6 even with the popularity for ‘Genda Phool’ and ‘Masakali’ dance, the film didn’t do much for the audience in the scrip department, leaving it forgotten in the midst of more bigger and interesting releases. However, the director is definitely one of a kind when he admitted to the media many months ago about the flaws that he too sees in his film.

Although looks like the stars are at last aligned for Mr. Mehra who recently had the chance to re-edit his film for the Venice Film Festival and it looks like that at last he may just have turned everything right! Speaking to Mid-day about the edits the director revealed, “Now, I’ve a new beginning and end. I intended the film to end with the death of Abhishek’s character.” It seems that the ending that we saw was not Rakesh’s ultimate choice and something he’d been forced to write by the distributers of the film.

What’s put a bigger smile on Rakesh’s face is the joy of not finally putting his film in its proper version but also being selected for the Venice Film Festival. “The joy of being selected for Venice has washed away all wrongs in the script”, said the director who’s riding high on the clouds of success, even if it is many months after the release.

Although we don’t know when we’ll see this tragic ending of Delhi 6 which supposedly is a much better ending than a original, the director did say that it’s the edit that has made him sleep easier now and he definitely wants the Indian audience to too view this change in his film.

Hmmm … only time will tell if the Indian audience feel the same way about this new Delhi 6.
