One of the film we have on our list of films to watch for is Simmba. The flick marks the debut collaboration of Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar and will undoubtedly roar with the fresh leading pair of Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan as well as Sonu Sood as the villain of the piece.

The film is now shooting and as only Ranveer and Rohit Shetty can, they announced it the best way and we had to share it ICYMI!

Not much is known of the full story but we do know Ranveer will be seen playing a notorious cop named Sangram Bhalerao in the film that is a Hindi take on the Telugu film Temper.

Rohit Shetty says they have taken parts of Temper but it is its own film, “We have bought the rights of Temper but our film is not exactly a remake. We wanted to take four-five scenes from Temper, but we thought it’s better to buy the rights. It’s what we did with Singham.”

Ranveer said in an earlier interview he is very excited to be a part of this film, “Simmba is my first collaboration with Rohit Shetty which I know people are really excited about and me more than anyone to be diving into the masala genre with the king of the genre. It is an incredible opportunity.”

Shetty has said about casting Ranveer in the film, “I couldn’t have imagined making Simmba if not for Ranveer Singh, because he is the only actor who has the strength to pull out such a character. This is the first time we will see Ranveer playing a policeman in an action film. There are certain colourful elements in the character of Simmba that Ranveer also has. So I really had to change my writing if Ranveer would have said ‘no’ to my film.”

Ranveer says he is very excited to be a Rohit Shetty leading man!

About Sara Ali Khan the director said earlier, “She is made for masala films. I thought she’d be perfect for Simmba. She’ll match Ranveer’s craziness because her character in the film is such.”

In an earlier interview with a leading daily, we also heard from Sonu Sood who talked about the challenges playing his role in the film, “It is very challenging (role). When grey character gets entertaining, the job is done. We are all here to entertain you and I am sure you will be entertained. I am really excited to be working with Rohit and Ranveer and the entire team. The script is phenomenal. Rohit is one of the coolest directors.

Simmba is slated to release worldwide on 28th December, 2018 and we can’t wait!
