For her new film Zor Lagaa Ke Haiya, Riya Sen plays the role of Chumki, a sensuous construction worker. “I had to purposely put on weight for this character, as one can’t expect a construction site worker to be skinny and well-toned,” explains Riya. Was she worried that the movie has a debutant director? “I always go by my instinct, when I take up a project,” she says, “When Girish, the director of Zor Lagaa Ke… Haiya narrated me the script, I could visualise the entire film in front of my eyes and was sure that the end product would be good!”

Riya is also looking forward to the release of multi-starrer Paying Guest now that the multiplex strike is over. The movie includes Shreyas Talpade, Sayali Bhagat and Celina Jaitley. “I play Arpita, an oversensitive and melodramatic girl who cries at the drop of a hat,” she confirms, “If my boyfriend is a few minutes late, I suspect that he is with someone else and I yell and scream at him! In real life, I am sensitive but I don’t react instantly.”

Riya is currently in Bahrain for the Bahrain Fashion Week along with Face of India 2008 Reena Patel and former Miss Australia Vanessa Portelli. She will be walking the boards for Sarv Atelier’s fashion sequence. The event is being held at the Moda Mall in the Bahrain World Centre.
