She’s only a couple of cameo roles old but speaks more wisely than the so called veterans of the industry. Such is the nature of Sughanda Garg, who wooed us all as the bubbly Sharleen in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, went onto woo even more in Tere Bin Laden and also was seen in a small role in My Name is Khan.

The actress has truly arrived after TBL, which was the sleeper hit of 2010. Speaking to a leading tabloid, the actress said that she knew that Tere Bin Laden would do well because her driver told her so! “When he saw Tere Bin Laden, he said, “Didi bahut chalegi”. I was like, “Chalo, if you like it, and my apparently intellectual friends like it, then we’re sorted!”

Speaking about the bigger and better things in store for the actress, Sughanda indulged in details of her upcoming international film Patang. “I play a girl who’s travelling back to Ahmedabad with her dad during the kites festival called Uttarayan. They’re both finding their roots in the city, and she meets this guy there and sparks fly, but she’s in conflict as she knows she has to return. But for the first time, she’s finding a lot of warmth. It also stars Seema Biswas, and has been shot by Shankar Raman who won the national award for “Frozen”, she explained.

With that in the horizon Sughanda looks all set to win the crowds over in new age Bollywood where audiences are ready to just about try anything as long as its paisa vasool with a dash of intelligence, just like the combination we saw in Tere Bin Laden. We hope to see her continue defy trends of Indian cinema and rise to new highs in 2011!
