Sherlyn Chopra is one of India’s most popular celebrities with burgeoning careers in music and photo-fashion. She has found it difficult so far to break into the big league in Bollywood but is hopeful that her role in the movie Hadippa will provide a springboard for her future success. Hadippa may not be it’s final name following a dispute over the title, but the movie with a cricketing theme also stars Shahid Kapur, Rani Mukherji and Rakhi Sawant.

The Red Swastik actress, best known for her Outrageous music album, has campaigned on behalf of animal rights organisation PETA with the slogan ‘Whips and Chains belong in the Bedroom.’ She was asked whether she was using her glamorous image to further her career: “I do have my own sex appeal and I don’t see why I shouldn’t take advantage of that,” she said, “I don’t have any hang ups about the roles I play even if it means wearing bikinis as I know I can carry it off tastefully. I want to be an actress first and foremost and that is my ultimate goal.”

Sherlyn has been accused of courting controversy as a way of keeping her name in the news but she denies this approach. “The media keeps saying that I invite these controversies but that’s not true,” she states categorically, “What would I get from this approach…..maybe two minutes of publicity or twenty four hours? But then that’s not enough for me. I am selfish. I am greedy. I want more.”
