Anil Kapoor and Neha Dhupia were the guests of honour at the opening of the Bollywood Fest at the Lorenskog Kino in Norway. They lit candles in the traditional way. The festival will run from the 15th-21st August. The festival director is Indian producer Nasrullah Qureshi. As well as dance troupes from India and England, Indian-style cooking, Bollywood dance workshops and other associated activities, festival goers will be able to attend a seminar with Indian film director Madhur Bandarkar. The festival will screen 27 movies both in Lorenskog and in Oslo, starting with Anil Kapoor in Race.

Irrfan Mahmoud attending the festival said, “I’m very happy. Today is my national day and it’s also the opening of the festival.”

Festival director Qureshi said, “Many Bollywood films are shot in Switzerland. By drawing attention to Norway through this festival, we hope to alert Indian directors to the beauties of Norway.”

Norwegians are in for a treat with many of the current top films being shown at the festival including God Tussi Great Ho, Sarkar Raj, Manorama – Six Feet Under, Om Shanti Om, Taare Zameen Par, Jab We Met, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Kismet Konnection, Guru, Guide, Mission Istanbul and Mallika Sherawat’s two latest releases Ugly Aur Pagli and Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam, the latter meaning that the film’s world premiere will be in Norway.
