While confirmation of this bizarre casting is yet to come, one is not surprised at all at this unusual casting for a Madhur Bhandarkar film as the director is rather unpredictable with his casting.

Chandani Bar, Satta, Page 3, Traffic Signal, Corporate and Fashion are probably the highlight of his filmography yet one does not spot a single casting formula as they do with other directors. Sure the director has a flare for making female dominated films but apart from that small fact, Madhur Bhadarkar remains rather unpredictable.

One must commend the director for taking the task of casting so seriously. It seems in Hindi cinema we frequently find that directors tend to choose their favorite actors and later construct a story around them rather than righting a story and casting suitable actors in the respective roles. This would explain the absence of what in the west is known as a ‘casting director’ which is a credit title that we seldom see in Hindi cinema. Hence finding a director as unpredictable as Madhur Bhandarkar is with his casting is rare sight.

Madhur’s next continuous the trend of his ‘unpredictable-ness’ to a whole new level as he’ll be ditching the drama genre for comedy. Currently titled Dil Toh Bacha Hi Hai, the film is said to be a romantic comedy. The cast of this romantic comedy has been in speculation for quite some time and the latest buzz about the casting is that Emraan Hashmi and Shrutti Hassan have joined the team which already consisted of Ajay Devgn.

Furthermore, search goes on for an 18-year-old female lead who will be cast opposite Ajay Devgn. Shrutti’s attitude has said to have impressed Madhur and she is actually is the first choice for the role.

As for now we all will simply have to wait for confirmation for this unusual and exciting casting. Fans of Shruti Hassan will also have to wait for a while to see her back on screen as currently she’s busy down South with her Telugu/Tamil untitled fantasy adventure film that marks Disney’s foray into South Indian cinema, costarring Southern sensation and Rang De Basanti star Siddharth. In addition, the actress has just bagged the lead role opposite superstar Surya in A R Murgadoss’s (Ghajini) next Tamil film. As for Emraan Hashmi fans, be sure to catch him on July 30th in Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, which also stars Prachi Desai, Ajay Devgn and Kangana Ranaut.
