Another Deol is shortly due to enter the world of Bollywood, Sunny and Pooja Deol’s elder son Karan, who is also loving referred to as Rocky in the family. Karan is currently 21 years old and is preparing himself to start a career in Hindi films next year. Sunny shared that “Karan’s debut will be sometime next year. As of now, I want him to learn all the essentials required for being a good actor.”

Whilst 2013 also marks 30 years since his father Sunny first made his debut with the romantic film Betaab where he starred alongside Amrita Singh. The film went on to become one of the most successful films that year and also gained Sunny a nomination for best newcomer.

Sunny was also the mastermind behind launching younger brother Bobby’s career with Barsaat in 1995, which won the younger Deol the best newcomer award. Sunny managed to rope in Raj Kumar Santoshi to direct Barsaat and also went on to direct Bobby himself in romantic-drama Dillagi in 1999. Despite a slump in his own career, as well as that of younger brother Bobby, the Deol family bounced back last year with the successful family comedy Yamla Pagla Deewana, alongside their father Dharmendra.

It remains to be seen, who will Sunny rope in direct the launchpad for his son? Will he take on the director’s mantel himself? Will Karan opt for a romantic debut like his father and uncles? Or will he continue the Deol families trend of action films? Here’s what the proud father had to say about it all for now: “We will be launching him but whether I will be directing him, I’m really uncertain. Considering we are still looking at scripts and everything is in its nascent stage. But one thing is certain that it will be a love story. That’s the way I, Bobby and Abhay debuted in Bollywood.”

So there we have it another Deol to take the next generation forward and another star son to add to the mix.
