Directed by Tabrez Noorani, Love Sonia, which is in theaters now, has a strong ensemble cast starring Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Rajkummar Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Adil Hussain, Anupam Kher, Demi Moore, Mark Duplass with Freida Pinto and introducing Mrunal Thakur and Riya Sisodia. It is a hard-hitting story about the global sex trade industry. The film tells the story of two sisters, Sonia (Mrunal) and Preeti (Riya) whose lives change after their poor farmer father, (Adil Hussain) sells off Preeti to a procurer due to poverty. Sonia, who loves her sister dearly, moves to Mumbai in search of her and gets trapped in the vicious world of human trafficking herself and works to rescue her sister so that they don’t become one of the 800,000 women and children who are victims of the international sex trade industry every year.

We were there when the film premiered at the prestigious London Indian Film Festival and needless to say we loved it and were so moved that in our review Jonathan Howell wrote Love Sonia is : “… a powerful film which is at pains to maintain authenticity without becoming exploitative itself and will hopefully will make an important contribution to the fight against sex trafficking by raising awareness. Make the time to find out what happens to Sonia in the quest to save her sister. You won’t regret it.”

We also want to share again some amazing interviews that really give insight into this important and we think crucial film. In an in-depth interview with Mrunal Thakur, told Stacey Yount, “I hope that through Love Sonia, we can save girls.”

Stacey also spoke to the amazing Frieda Pinto who stated “Love Sonia is a film that had to be made”.

Plus we also got a real inside look how the film came about and into the making of the film with director Tabrez Noorani who said, “I hope that Sonia’s journey resonates with them. More importantly, we want them to work out having seen something, learned something but also we hope they walk out with hope. It is an awful, terrible problem, a global problem. We can fight it. When they walk out of the movie, absolutely, they are going to know more. It’s about throwing more light on this situation, on what’s happening.”

Be sure to read the interviews in their entirety because with their amazing answers they really take you inside the film and be sure to watch Love Sonia in theatres near you now!
