Sukankan Roy directed animated film ‘Sound of Joy’ won three awards at the just concluded 62nd National Film Awards. The film which is based on Swami Vivekananda’s childhood stories bagged the national award in the following three categories – best animation film, best animator and best direction.
“This film wins the award for its engaging animation style in telling the stories from Swami Vivekananda’s childhood and its emphasis on developing the power of concentration” the jury was quoted saying.
Sharing his joy, an elated Sukankan Roy said, “This is dedicated to bring back the childhood of Indian children and imbibing self belief within them.”
The Film is produced by Aura Cinematics, a Kolkata based animation studio catering to national and international market for five years. Aura had kindled the animated feature film on the life of Swami Vivekananda and ‘Sound of Joy’ on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda 150th birth anniversary celebration. The film is financially assisted by the Ministry of Culture and Presented by Ramakrishna Mission Belur.
The animation film category was created by the National Award Jury in the year 2006 and till now only 4 animated films have received the national award. ‘Sound of Joy’ is the 5th film to receive this prestigious award.
