The white clad duo of Abbas-Mustan is coming back with the sequel of the super hit thriller Race (2008). The cast has been finalized and is surely meant to increase the interest levels of the viewers. While Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor remain a part of the sequel, they will be joined by John Abraham who is slated to woo the audience as a villain yet again after Dhoom (2004). Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif provided the glamour quotient in the first series and will now be replaced by Deepika Padukone, Ameesha Patel and Sonakshi Sinha. It will be interesting to see Sonakshi Sinha don a dapper western slick look for the movie as she has previously portrayed the role of a village belle in her debut Dabangg (2010). This movie is also a biggie in the kitty of Ameesha Patel. She is pitted opposite Anil Kapoor who had Sameera Reddy for company in the earlier part.
Race (2008) is one of the very few action thriller suspense genre films that Bollywood has produced and it will be really exciting to see how Abbas-Mustan will make it even more thrilling. The shooting began on October 5, 2011. It has been already in news due to constant speculation about the female leads. Kareena Kapoor, Chitrangada Singh, Mallika Sherawat were meant to be part of the project but dropped out due to various reasons.
It is still not clear who will give the music. Race (2008) music was composed by Pritam with lyrics by Sameer. The music was a great success and had several hit songs including a track by Atif Aslam, ‘Pehli Nazar Mein’ and another one sung by Monali, ‘Zara Zara Touch Me’.
Race 2 will be out on screen during Diwali 2012 as tweeted by producer Ramesh Taurani. Here’s hoping the film continues to be a top grosser much like Race (2008).
