10 days from now, Rock On 2 will release (on 11th November). Here is presenting 10 things that make the film special:
1. The film is a first ever sequel of a musical in Bollywood to hit the screens where the actual story is carried forward. In that sense, Rock On 2 is a true-blue sequel instead of just being a franchiser product
2. The original story (in Rock On) had all male members in the band, Magik. This time around, there is a female member (Shraddha Kapoor) stepping in as well
3. The film sees the debut of ad-man Shujaat Saudagar stepping in as a feature film director. Part One was directed by Abhishek Kapoor and Shujaat has a job in hand to do even better in the sequel
4. Rock On is the only film ever in Bollywood to be based on a rock band and do well (in major urban centers). The success of Rock On 2 is extremely important for the genre and franchise to stay alive
5. This is for the first time ever when both the lead actors in a film, Farhan Akhtar and Shaddha Kapoor, have sung all their songs. Between them, they have as many as seven songs to their credit
6. Rock On 2 is a rare Bollywood film to have been shot for a major portion in Shillong, Meghalaya. One looks forward to how the scenic beauty is captured for the big screen
7. Farhan Akhtar’s last major hit as an actor was Bhaag Milkha Bhaag [2013]. Dil Dhadakne Do [2015] made some moolah but he had an extended special appearance. He could do with a major hit in Rock On 2
8. Shraddha Kapoor has been delivering a series of hits already [Baaghi, ABCD 2, Ek Villain, Aashiqui 2] and a big hit in Rock On 2 would further help her standing amongst the audience and in the industry
9. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music and Javed Akhtar’s lyrics in Rock On had caught up well after the release of the film. One now expects a similar response in case of Rock On 2 which is chartering a new territory
10. Since both Raees and Rock On 2 are Excel Entertainment productions (latter has Eros as the producers too), there is a good probability that theatrical promo of Raees may be unveiled with Rock On 2
