There’s been some excellent web series being written, produced, directed and acted in by young British Asian artists. We thought we would take a moment to present to you our top picks for you to enjoy:
Based on Mills & Boon books by Harlequin, ‘Jessie Loe’ is the Executive PA to General Manager of The Chatsfield Hotel. Set in St James Court Hotel (a Taj hotel) the series follows Jessie’s journey of a bet to fulfil. Jessie is played by Asian actress Sheena Bhattessa, who featured in Bollywood films Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Love Aaj Kal.

‘Diary of a Bad Man’
Written, directed by and starring Humza Arshad, this is undoubtedly the YouTube king of web-comedies. His web series follows the antics of Bad Man, a self-styled fictional character, which has generated over 56 million YouTube views and is still ever so popular. With moral undertone, Diary of a Bad Man has been noticed by mainstream media in England.

Written and directed by Islah Abdur-Rahman. It is a British comedy webseries about a young guy (Malik) who has to manage his family owned cornershop, while his father is away on business. He recruits his motley-crew of friends, with comic and disastrous consequences. Cornershop’s first episode ‘It’s my first day’ had over 70,000 views on YouTube.

‘Three shades of brown’
A new comedy web series about a ‘rude boy’, a ‘freshie’ and a ‘coconut’ who move into a flat together in London. It stars Omar Khan, who featured in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Muzz Khan (24) and Navinder Bhatti (the upcoming Amar Akbar n Tony). The first season has just concluded, but you still catch it on YouTube.
