Aamir Khan has stated categorically that he will continue to act and will ignore the threat issued by Indian Mujahideen, the militant group responsible for the deaths of 63 people in the Ahmedabad bombing of July 26th and the bombings in Jaipur, Rajasthan in May. The group warned the Four Kings (Aamir, Shah Rukh, Saif Ali and Salman) to stop acting or face the consequences.
“It’s really sad that a few people are adamant in taking the lives of the innocent. I think we should not be cowed by these threats and attacks or let them affect us at all,” said Aamir.
Meanwhile Aamir has sold the film rights for Taare Zameen Par to Disney for distribution in the English-language territories. Though this is a great thing it will mean a wait of 3 months for the DVD to be released there. The DVD will contain a discussion between Aamir and specialists on children’s disabilities. In other Aamir news, according to Imran the hit summer song ‘Pappu Can’t Dance’ from the movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na refers to his uncle Aamir!
Aamir has also been talking recently about his approach to film-making in his new role of producer. With the current debate continuing about whether it’s better to aim for a big budget movie with the prospect of big rewards – or a small budget movie which if it fails carries only a small loss, Aamir has confirmed that this isn’t his approach at all. “At Aamir Khan Productions, (AKP) we don’t work like this. I only make a film I like and if I don’t like a script, I don’t make the film. It’s as simple as that.”
