Her career saw one of the most successful films in Hindi cinema as a debut in Hindi followed by a box office bomb and then another blockbuster but Asin Thottumkal is in no hurry to go on signing spree. Firmly perched on her own stiletto heeled feet, the actress is making things happen in her own way.

“Right now I am concentrating on commercial space. If in commercial space I get a good character, then I will cope up with that. But not deviating from commercial cinema because it reaches out to a larger audience,” says the Ghajini actress while speaking to Times of India who is all set to for her next film Housefull 2. Understandable, but her last film Ready was a year ago and prior to that London Dreams which was another 2 years prior. What about the competition, especially from the south with Kajal Aggarwal debuting in Singham and Tapsee Pannu in the upcoming Chashme Buddoor remake? She replies to this with confidence. “There are so many people who make their debut every day in B-town and there is no competition among a particular section of actors. Everybody is talented and all actors are trying to make their mark in the industry. No one is competing with each other.” Point noted.

For an actress that was known to be the girl next door beauty but capable of handling strong character in the south, she has come far to become a newbie in b-town again. Yet, Asin is quite content with where she is and doesn’t consider herself to be “a star”. But with commercial cinema is taking a racier makeover a la The Dirty Picture, will she be able to take this on as well? “I can never do a film like The Dirty Picture. I’m not comfortable doing bold roles like that”
